I love my mummy

Hi all,

At the minute, there seems to be some real mother bashing threads on here. A few folk seem to really hate their own mothers...maybe with good reason, who am I to say :(

On a positive note, I love my mother. She has never been perfect no - but then again neither am I with my own little family. Now I am an adult, she still says and does things that I do not agree with, but then again, so does my husband and everyone else on the planet.

We all make mistakes, it is the basis of being a human. We all of us have ugly personality traits which rear their ugly heads. My worst is my impatience. I hate waiting, for anything.

We can all just do but the best we can with what life throws at us.

Peace out.

    I love mine too.

It took me a long time to realise that she is not just my mother - that she in fact is a fellow 'human' with needs just the same as the rest of us.

Yeah I remember having that same realisation DannyBo.

It wasn't until I had left my teens behind me though and I remember thinking the exact same thing.

My nephew thinks the sun shines out of my !!! - he too shall grow.

I'm on a much better level playing field with my mum now. We're equals.

It also helps for me to appreciate that, when she was the age I am now, I was 15 - and I am childless.

Me too! We went through some rough/argumentative times when I was younger and I moved out to live with my dad for a while, but she's pretty much my best friend now. We've got closer since I moved out - we both like our own space (she moved out at 17, I moved out at 20) so we get on better with just seeing each other 1-3 times a week.

I adore my Mum. We almost lost her to breast cancer back in 1989 when she was only 35 and my brother and I visit our parents a lot. Some may think that's sad and that apron strings require cutting but we're both very independent and just very grateful we still have her as well as our Dad.

My mum was wonderful, as was my dad. Looking back, I can't believe how much they did for me, and wish I'd appreciated them more at the time.

Another one that loves her Mum. She is an incredible woman; intelligent, loyal, hardworking, generous and thoughtful.

    We have a comment on the white board in our staff room;

    "Parents are people too"

I echo the comments of Dannybo and Padstow.
