You are mental if you think sellers should hand deliver items to guarantee their safe and speedy arrival rather than use the postal system.
A seller in Torquay should drive up to Middlesbrough to deliver a £5 CD rather than take a chance on the postal system? Really?

I wouldn't worry about 1 low star. It's happened to me, several times. Fortunately, they are far apart and enough 5-star ratings will absorb the damage and push the average upwards.

I do appreciate the risk of having been unfortunate to be left a number of bad DSRs in quick succession (e.g. adverse weather slowing deliveries). However, the bottom line is that the buyer can leave a seller adverse feedback and DSRs from a position of complete impunity, so there is nothing a seller can do about at and for that reason, it's not worth worrying about.

[There are occasions when you can appeal against negative DSRs and feedback, such as when a buyer demands something under threat of negative feedback/DSRs or write something that is plainly ludicrous, but these are exceptional cases].

    I am not

    neither would Curry's

they will elect to use a representative "bills speedy delivery service " to deliver YOUR fridge freezer that YOU ordered from Curry's

who you going to complain to when it arrives a week late?

who will give you a refund?

who will YOU hold fully responsible?

again - I can't help it if you don't get it

but you should not be allowed to sell anything to anyone - you simply are not responsible enough
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?
  • Out of interest Jethrol will you be paying the extra for this guaranteed service or bypassing the expensive seller and picking the cheaper using RM standard?

so if your are charged £5 for Postage and Packaging and the printed postage only shows £3 you would be upset and annoyed and complain.
the clue is in the name "Postage and Packaging" envelopes/boxes/bubblewrap etc. all cost money which i think some people forget and think they are only paying the postage costs

No, I accept that a jiffy bag may cost a small amount...but not £2 or whatever. I buy mine from Home Bargains and Poundland and it works out 10-20p per jiffy bag. I wouldn't insult my customers by adding, say £5 postage to an item which costs £2.20 for the stamp and 20p for a jiffy; I'd charge £2.49! And if I was selling an expensive item, I'd charge for the postage only and take the hit on the packaging.

Buyers do not differentiate between how long it takes seller to dispatch and how long it takes in the post office system - why on earth would they?
Uh... because the DSR category quite specifically says "dispatch time" and not "delivery time"? If the criterion were delivery time you would have a point, but it's not. If you would give a seller a low star rating for dispatch time knowing that they had dispatched promptly using the listed postage service then you are a dishonest and dishonourable customer and I would block you if I knew your eBay ID.
Would you mark a seller down if you bought a DVD and found the film wasn't actually very good? I'd guess not (though I may be wrong!) since there is no DSR criterion asking you to rate the product itself: and since there is no criterion asking you to rate Royal Mail (or other applicable delivery service) either, why do you think it's appropriate to give your answer to a question you weren't asked?

When I leave feedback as a buyer I often put 'quick delivery thanks' but even as I write it I think that is down the the RM more than them, but I have to think of something to put in the box.

You can say "dispatch" instead of "delivery", if they've taken it to the PO and you can actually check what date they posted it vs the date you paid. That's what I do. if they've sent it within the time they state, and all else is well, then they get 5 stars for dispatch and positive feedback. If they've sent it outside the stated time but all else is well, I still leave positive feedback but don't mention dispatch at all, and mark them down on the dispatch stars.
