    Ah, ok. I tend to use Royal Mail Standard Parcels or Parcelforce. If I have time to wait in, ie a rare day off work, then I'll use MyHermes. But my point is, the services I am used to using do tend to be legible (as when I receive parcels I check the postage cost against what I was charged).

    so if your are charged £5 for Postage and Packaging and the printed postage only shows £3 you would be upset and annoyed and complain.
    the clue is in the name "Postage and Packaging" envelopes/boxes/bubblewrap etc. all cost money which i think some people forget and think they are only paying the postage costs

    Thanks all, bit disappointed I can't have it removed, but not unreasonable I suppose as I can't really prove to ebay what date I sent it.

    I didn't leave him any feedback for a while, as he seemed unreasonably demanding, but as I saw he had left me a positive, I felt mean, and did in the end!

    I thought I had read on here that if someone gives you a positive but very low stars it can be removed as it is a 'false positive'?

    I don't suppose I am allowed to put the username on here so others can block him as a bidder?

    I do think some of these people must just be too thick to realise that dispatch doesn't mean delivery. If, for example, I bought an item which was marked as dispatched on the 20th, and it arrived on the 4th of the next month, I'd check the stamp/postmark on the parcel, and as long as it had been DISPATCHED when the seller said it had, I'd give them full 5* for dispatch. I'd only mark down if they either lied or if they didn't post for ages (bearing in mind some give a dispatch estimate of several working days, which I wouldn't factor in as they'd been honest).

    Some people really don't seem to understand these seemingly basic and obvious things and it's quite depressing.

    Ebay also make no attempt to point out the difference - or point out the seller dashboard. I think they get a kick out of the problems it causes.

    Probably as thick as the sellers that advertise 1st class post, wait couple weeks to "dispatch" the order, then stick a 1st class stamp on it, then cant figure why they got bad feedback :mad:

    after all they did post 1st Class as advertised :wall:

    Actually brought this discussion up on ebay forums where several sellers couldn't see this as a problem :wall:


    Buyers do not differentiate between how long it takes seller to dispatch and how long it takes in the post office system - why on earth would they?

    Just because sellers have a problem with differentiation, buyers dont give a rats a$$ how you get it to them

    Buyers feedback on how long it takes between placing order/paying for an item and them being able to enjoy it (it arriving in their home) - obviously

    If you order a fridge freezer delivered from currys and it arrives a week late - you dont care whether it's because it was not ordered on time, whether it was delivered to wrong address , whether it came in wrong colour and had to be reordered or what their excuse was - you only care that it was a week late - end of!

    A seller might want buyers to 'understand they dont deliver it' - but they dont care - and any seller that thinks they can wash their hands of any postal errors is a fool - any postal service you 'choose' to use is your elected representative and any mistakes they make are well and truly your responsibility both technically and actually

    for blindingly obvious reasons even a teenager should be able to see this

    Because how long the Royal Mail takes to deliver is not under the buyers control! They should not be marked down for it, (as long as they use the service specified in their listing). It does ask if the buyer despatched quickly, not if the item arrived quickly, so ebay make it as clear as they can.

    When I leave feedback as a buyer I often put 'quick delivery thanks' but even as I write it I think that is down the the RM more than them, but I have to think of something to put in the box.

    You seem quite determined to push this point and ignore my posts saying that this not how it works anymore on eBay. Sellers that believe they can charge for extras will not last long, buyers hold all the cards now and no seller should forget that if they want to retain full selling rights and a good profile in Best Match

    By all means charge what you think you can get away with, but buyers judge us against each other. My brand new packaging boxes cost me less than 20p each, and a jiffy around 9p. Big boxes are even cheaper as I get huge ones from my local grocers for free.so if I charge say 50p for packaging and another seller charges only stamp prices I look dear and will probably get my stars marked down.

    theres little point to this
    all you can leave is positive or nothing
    not leaving feedback can nark a previously happy buyer
    IMO its better to just leave the feedback and be done with it

    If YOU elect to post an order via Royal Mail instead of stick it in your car and drive it to the buyers address is YOUR decision ALONE!

    as such the Royal Mail are YOUR elected representative (not the buyers), and YOU have to take FULL responsibility for any mistake/delay your representative makes

    You are mental if you think sellers should hand deliver items to guarantee their safe and speedy arrival rather than use the postal system.
    A seller in Torquay should drive up to Middlesbrough to deliver a £5 CD rather than take a chance on the postal system? Really?
