Thank you for your congratulations, still giddy today - it was a struggle to get work done!
Tig Tag - good luck with the job, although sometimes it takes longer than a week so don't get to antsy if you don't hear anything. Regarding my current job I phoned them three weeks after the closing date for feedback to find that they had not even shortlisted yet!
Karma Kat -Def let us know how you get on, so far I have printed off the big long starter thread and have read it once, going to read it again this week and hopefully start fiddling with the matcher this weekend.
Doing well on the Ebay/Amazon front, listed 5 books last night and have sold three! We have also had a clear out at work and my manager gave me a massive pile of jiffy envelopes, all dif sizes and mostly unused, that should save me a fair bit.
The lovely Eagerlearner has sent me her clicks list and so I am going to get myself set up on this tonight.
Not weighed myself this week as its 'that time' and as usual I am feeling akin to a beached whale, however my skin has not broken out the way it normally does so thats a positive. Also, I think my routine is starting to get more solid and my house etc are starting to look better.
This week I am going to step up my exercise, i've got hold of a copy of eight minutes in the morning and started today, as well as aiming to do my first jogs twice this week.
I'm going to stick to my routine and get my head round matched betting. I've now got a 100quid start fund for this and also my BF is going to do it at the same time with the cash he earns going into his savings pot for when we move in together. Commandered his Pigasbacks/Quidco accounts and will be doing clicks for him as he forgets. He is and always has been debt free but the extra cash always helps!
Have a great week everyone!0 -

I will, don't worry. I printed out that starter thread and read it quite a few times, it was really useful. I have some questions but find that the more I read it, the more I can answer them myself (I understand things v-e-ry s-l-o-w-l-y).
Me on the Amazon front: I sold a CD!! I'm beginning to think I just won't bother with ebay, anything I can't sell on amazon I'll take to a charity shop, or if its big enough, I'll stick it on freecycle. I like this whole amazon thing, I stick it up on a website, it sits there for ages no charge, and suddenly one day I get an email telling me to send it off, somebody's paid. Thats my kinda shop.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Tigtag - Hope your OH gets a fab new job soon!
Swishter - Congratulations on your engagement!
I should have updated yesterday, but put it off as didn't want to admit how rubbish I've done, hopefully it will shame me into doing better this week.
Lose weight, aiming for 1/2 a stone - Absolutely nothing done on this score as was on holiday last week in the Lake District and seemed to average a cake per day, plus I discovered a fab chocolate/fudge shop and had to sample some!I did do some walking, so that probably burnt off a 1/4 of a slice of carrot cake... Haven't been near my stepper machine since I got back, although have tomorrow off work, so will force myself onto it tomorrow morning.
Move out of OH's Mum's house and into our own flat. Viewed a 2 bed house at the weekend, but the landlord can't decide whether to let a room or the whole house as renting the whole house out won't cover their mortgage (which the lettings agency completely failed to mention!). I already think it's slightly overpriced, plus we don't want a house share so we will try elsewhere. Have a couple of flats to call about tomorrow.
Find additional ways to raise money for wedding. Still cracking on with surveys (20p today - woohoo!) and saving 2 pound coins. No other ideas as yet.
Research new careers as really unhappy in current job. I think I may not pass the probation period which is up in two months, so also need to be looking for a new short term job.
New career - use Internet to research possibilities, and keep a list of careers researched - possible pros and cons and salaries and what training is needed. Researched legal executive and licensed conveyancer - good money when qualified, but training will take 3 - 4 years, although could get job as trainee at solicitors. Just started researching heritage/conservation, seems like this would be more fun than legal, but pay is likely to be pretty rubbish... anybody reading this thread a careers adviser or work in these fields? I need heeeeeeeelp!
New short term job - Update CV, register with agencies, read jobs paper each week and look on Job Centre Plus website. Nothing in jobs paper or on Job Centre website. Still need to update CV and go to agencies.

Thought it was time to do a bit of an update...My targets are going to be...
1. Loose 1 1/2 Stone  Haven't managed to make it to another weigh in yet but have been sticking to healthier foods and walking 30mins every day so hopefully that will have helped. Planning to draw up an excercise plan for the next few weeks, need to make sure I'm strict with myself and stick to it
2. Get on top of the house work before I disappear completly under the heaps of junkThings aren't going too well on this one. Have equired new bits and bobs I need for the house I'm moving to next week and you can hardly move round the living room now. Think I may tweek this one slightly to be keep on top of house work in the NEW house
3. Set budget and stick to it... start using spending diary again Have printed off copies of the budget from this site and have all the bank statements ready to make it as accurate as possible... just need to diary in an evening to sit down and go through it
4. Take pack lunch to work EVERY DAY... not just the days I role out of bed in time to throw something together!Yeay! At last something I've actually managed to do for the last 12 days!! Have had a packed lunch of some form each day and recon I've probably saved myself about £20
5. Read 3 novelsGoing well... have been reading on the train and I'm trying to set aside half an hour each night before going to bed to read
6. Cook more homemade meals rather than nipping along to the supermarket and buying junk food. Have been fairly sucessful with this... although did nip to the take away last night rather than facing a pasta dish again!! Think this weeks mini aim is to get a bit more creative:p
7. Set up a efficient filing system, rather than to top of the bookcase and the corner of the coffee table.Unfortunalty think this is something that is going to have to wait until I've moved house on monday... going with the theory new house, start as I mean to go on and all that!
8. Limit the amount of time I spend in the pub with my lovely friends... perhaps look for some more healthy activities for us to get involved in. Not doing too badly on this oneonly went out once last week and a couple of us are thinking of going and joining a lindy hop class
9. Plan my time better. Hmmm erm... getting there with this, have started planning time better at work, just need to get on top of it with home life. Does anyone have anytop tips for this?? I live on my own and work full time and the home planner things I've seen seem abit american and aimed at stay at home mums... if anybody can suggest places to look I'd be most grateful
10. Get in contact with old friends I seem to have drifted from.Have started with emailing people, just need to get around to sending some letters and then making sure I don't leave it another 6 months to a year before getting in touch
I guess I've still got quite a way to go with some of these, but then I guess it is all about taking baby steps isn't it:j
Sealed Pot Challenge #1505
'you wouldn't worry about what people think, if you realised how seldom they do'0 -
Swishter - congratulations on the engagement, very exciting news!! :j will you be planning a DFW wedding!!
Tigtag - sorry to hear about your OH job, hope the job hunting is going ok for both of you.
I've made progress on sorting the clutter in the flat out, we did our first ever carboot sale on Sunday, it was great, I had so much fun, I love haggling with people!! And it was unbelievably successful! We made a whopping ..... £245.25!!! :j
Can't believe we managed to make so much money from all the stuff we didn't want, the only decision now is whether the money goes on debts, or a hoiday!
We've still got some stuff left, but have organised most of it to send to the charity shops and some other stuff we are putting on ebay/amazon. We have given ourselves a target to put an item on ebay each evening and the first one was listed last night.
Hoping to use the bank holiday to do more stuff in the flat, so it's all going pretty well.
I'm still eating healthily and have really cut down my portions and I don't feel like I'm going without, although we did have a curry on friday, which was yummy so I'm not going to feel guilty about it!!
Also I went to a body combat lesson last week which I enjoyed, but there was only 4 of us in the class so it was a bit weird. Need to do some more excercise this week. It's hard to find time to do everything sometimes though!
Keep up the good work everyone, this thread is really inspiring me to keep on track with my challenges!!Debts in April 07 = £12,547.61 Debts in Aug 08 = £0I'm debt free! Woohoo!DFW Member # 476 Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0
