Overzealous parking fine at Liverpool Airport

Hi I wonder if you can help. I'd like to hear from anyone who has successfully appealed against an airport parking fine.
I dropped my neighbour Dave off at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in his car. This was the first time I'd been to Liverpool Airport. Dave had flown from there before & asked me to drop him off in the drop off zone & get out quick as they only allow 10 minutes then you get charged.
I left the airport & pulled up outside for about 30 seconds to set my sat nav for home.
I picked Dave up 4 weeks later only to find when he got home he had a £60 parking fine through the post which had by now gone up to £100 for not paying in time.
Dave is a pensioner & disabled blue badge holder (If that helps)
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks Stu

You drove him there, you set your sat nav, How did he get a ""fine""?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Not overzealous at all, just par for the course with these parasites. Just do a search here for Liverpool Airport, and you'll discover you're not alone. and that you can safely ignore all correspondence (barring aeal court summons, which won't happen).0

If you are reading this thread in 2014 or later please ask yourself why you are reading outdated info from January 2013?! POINTLESS.
The advice is no longer to ignore a fake PCN.
These are easy to beat at POPLA appeal if in England & Wales.
Just get off this ancient thread and stop reading it now. See my signature below for where to click to see current threads.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the info everyone.
the parking charge notice was "No stopping/waiting in restricted areas or roadways" Backed up with three photo's.
The charge was issued by Vehicle Control Services Ltd. I have Googled the company & they cover a number of sites. Most seem to agree a private company can issue fines & threaten legal action but the advice seems to be to ignore it & eventually they will drop the matter but I'm still not sure. I think it's best if Dave lets them know that I was driving as he's quite worried about it.
Another thing to bear in mind if they are considering court action, I am employed on below average wage & a Housing Association tenant with little in the way of savings.
The car belongs to Dave with me as a named driver. It's cheaper for him to get to the airport when visiting friends in Spain & I get to use the car when he's not using it. I did have a car but it became too expensive to insure & I'd rather ride my Honda Blackbird.0 -
"No stopping/waiting in restricted areas or roadways"
So in other words you weren't even parked! these jokers would never risk court not after the absolute hiding they got in hmrc v vcs (google it) where the judge said they have no legal right to offer parking or go to the small claims.
If you wish them to write to you appeal to them and once they are writing to you ignore their letters, as I mentioned it will not go to courtWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Just noticed this on the Parking charge notice.
"This Parking Charge Notice is issued to vehicle registration mark ******* for allegedly breaching the car park terms and conditions of access to the Privately Operated Roads at Liverpool John Lennon Airport0
