I had a spaniel when I was younger and she used to get the snowballs stuck to her ears as well as her legs. Luckily she liked the hairdryer so we used to melt them that way but it took ages and I always ended up sat in a puddle on the kitchen floor.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

It's the period aftwards, drying him, that worries me....it takes a while, and I'd rathe do it in a warmer environment.
Hot water we have through the shower so, bathing him itself isn't the problem, it's the shivery cold ness between bath and dry.:)0 -
Where I am even pavements are covered in snow. Zara is long haired so her belly/legs are terrible after a walk - swimming pool indoors.....
Just about to go in the woods... snowing all the time.. great

Have you thought about getting him a drying coat? I've got two from Freckles Designs, and wouldn't be without them now. They are towelling on the inside and fleece on the outside. I put them on my swimming springer when we get back to the car, and in under 10 mins her body's dry, leaving me with just legs, ears and tail to towel dry.
I've also heard about oil being used by beaters to prevent snow bobbles on their working dogs, so that might be worth a try.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

When I was a kid, we had a briard who absolutely adored playing in the snow but would immediately turn into a Xmas tree with snow baubles forming all over his coat :rotfl: We would just put him in the kitchen until they'd melted and then a quick towel dry would be enough. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

This sound ideal, thank you!0 -
In fact, I have started trimming him. I love his puppy coat so it's sad, but his comfort comes first. The groomer cannot fit him in yet so I warned her that I am starting to 'put some shape in' new breed to me, new grooming technique and no breeder nearby to get help from.....I think he might look a bit silly.0
