Fluffy dogs and snow?

Hoping to get some advice.
I have my first dog with 'hair' (my other dogs have been short haired) its not very long but he is fluffy and he is little.
Snow is getting bundled up and freezing into ice in his coat when we go out. He is enjoying the snow a lot, but not enjoying the drying off afterwards.....its too 'meshed' in his hair to wipe off and takes too long to melt by himself (he starts to shiver when he comes in and stops playing). Last night I resorted to using a hair dryer on a low setting while catching the drips in a towel. Being dried is not his favourite thing, there must be a quicker and easier way to deal with this?:o

Could you put him in a coat with a belly protector? Or failing that. a child's t-shirt knotted on the hem to make it fit. Equafleece make dog specific t shirts http://equafleece.co.uk/store/dog_t_shirts.html but you could try the child's one for now to see if it works.

We love equafleeces....
But the problem is worst on his legs, so I don't think any fleece etc could help much.0 -
Oil is meant to help. A little bit of vegetable oil or similar rubbed on your hands then wiped over his legs may do the trick0

We use a hairdryer, the ice pompoms soon melt away. This was taken this afternoon. Olie loves the snow and his coat is very fluffy xx

It took me forty minutes last night to melt them all then dry him. He was not impressed!0 -
Wow it took us just under 10 mins this afternoon. He is used to the dryer and the brushes lol. Also he looks a lot bigger on the pic than he is, he weighs in at 3kg. I used to buy paw wax for mine, now I buy cheap hair wax from poundland, does the same thing!
Oh, and I keep mine a lot shorter than chris n tj's dog (TJ?) as they love snow in winter and mud and rivers all year round!0 -
Gorgeous pic of Ollie, looks really professional!
Lostinrates, we are having a similar problem. Our short haired terrier has a coat for this weather but our new sheltie puppy has long fluffy fur and doesn't seem to need a coat. But she cries piteously when were getting the icicles out of her fur. Shes scared of the hair dryer but I've never heard of paw wax before so may try that. With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0 -
