I used to buy paw wax for mine, now I buy cheap hair wax from poundland, does the same thing!

Oh, and I keep mine a lot shorter than chris n tj's dog (TJ?) as they love snow in winter and mud and rivers all year round!

We use paw wax but hadnt heard of it being used that way, I wil give that a try. Thanks for sharing that tip x

I was recommended to put our fluffy pup in a cold water bath. I haven't tried it yet but I was told that it melts snow on the legs really quickly. No good though if they get snow all over their coat!

I put my miniature schnauzer in the sink with about 3 inches of lukewarm water in it. I then move his legs about a bit and the snowballs melt away. For any persistent ones I used a jug to pour the water over them. Takes about 10 minutes & is followed by a rub with a towel and then he snuggles on his bed with a fleece over him.

Yes Chris and tj, my chap's puppy coat is still in too, and I think (hope) that's making it harder.

I cannot bathe him warm as our new central heating is not working. He has a heat pad and their room is ok, it has an electric heater and a low ceiling, it's the warmest room in the house, but still not sure about getting him wetter before drying him iyswim.

He has been having very frequent baths in the mild weather ; once or twice a week) purely because he gets so grubby. I don't know why I assumed little dogs would be cleaner tohave about.....if there is mud he wants to check it out. He doesn't love the hair dryer but he accepts it...but the bathroom and utiliy ( where I could wash him) are both cold, I don't nt to do that to him either!

    Thanks for the help.

I do not dry Zara - she comes home, goes to sleep and wakes up dry.

Mind it, my CH is always on so it is not cold indoors and she dries quite fast.

Then I mop the floors LOL

We have only bathed Olie once (bad humans) We just leave him to dry then brush, this usually gets rid of the crap he picks up along the way. And believe me there is plenty. Once he has had a good brush he looks as good as new. If he has more mud than usual I just use baby wipes. Of course if he gets really dirty then its a dunk in the bath.

Poor lad is going to the groomers on Sat, this will be his second visit. We dont have much done, Just a bath and little trim but it gets him used to it.

As you can see his coat looks ok, but I do think white dogs have self cleaning coats lol.

I did havr a titter about you keeping him warm, I panic and chuck more blankets in his crate he is so toastie in there. We sure are slaves to our pets x

:). Autocorrect changed your name in my post. I altered this morning.

He comes out on the farm yard with me and likes the muck heap......after that and before a bath tbh I don't want him in my sitting room, baby wipe doesn't cut it. Mud I let dry and brush out usually...now I know that he's going to need to be dunked for worse.

I ha also forgotten that small male dogs sometimes get piddle on their tummies.

I found some ice on his chin hair drying him last night and just started to scissor our his adult trim instead of battling with it. There is a reason he's been gong to a groomer.....

I dry my big dogs, but, with less urgency. The thing with little dogs is that the snow and ice is so close to their ore. Also , he s a baby. And it's too cold to eave him.

Finally, there is a bonus of urban and suburban dog walking.....generally you get sometime on paved paths/ pavements where the worst of mud etc drops in. Here there is just snow and slush to further gatherer on him between our muck heap and the back door!
