I had a false positive a few years ago! Test was done by nurse in A&E, and although I was sure I wasn't pregnant, I had to wait 45 mins for another! (Which was neg!!). So it does occasionally happen, but VERY rare!

I'd say congrats are definitely in order!!!

(but as they were 99p for 3, I'd do another one on Mon, just to be double sure!!)
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Thank you soooo much for all the replies and congratulation messages.

It doesn't seem real like a lot of you have said and I do feel I need to use the other 2 tests, hahaha.

Be using one tomorrow morning that is for sure and might buy a different brand when do food shopping in a bit.

Be interesting what my drs say or do for that matter.

Thanks again, all very helpful replies.

Used another test from the pack of three I got yesterday and then in the shopping last night got a different brand so decided to use one from that pack as well.

    Slowly sinking in now, lol.

  • Do people usually do a few tests just to be sure of the result? I only bought cheap tests as didn't wanna spend loads of money, they're not exactly cheap.

    Congratulations on your pregnancy! :)

Going by experience and anecdotes, most people use every test in the house once they've got their first "positive". Then they go out and buy some more tests and repeat. lol I think it just takes a little while for the good news to sink in. :)

I must be one of the only people who didn't do that. I missed my period & did one test, a cheap ish one, then a digi -mainly just to use it as I'd paid for it previously, then that was it!

I have read about people doing lots of tests though too. But a false positive is pretty much impossible, so you only need to do one test if its positive - if someone says they had one its likely they confused evaporation lines with a positive line.

I bought a pack of 2 and did them both - only because DH was away at the time. So I did one on my own, and had some time to get my head around it before doing the second a few hours before DH was due home. I wrapped it up and everything. :-D
