19th January 2013 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 19th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Still dark here this morning, had several hours yesterday afternoon of continous snowfall, but roads still seem to be ok on the main routes but side roads not so good. Stopped snowing teatime yesterday and we don't appear to have had any snow during the night - hoping we can get a day today without any more as we're supposed to get a fair amount again tomorrow.
DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early - hence the reason I'm up stupid early - wanted to make sure they took plenty of food, hot drinks and warm clothes!
Dinner last night was HM lasagne, HM bread, chips/salad. 2 portions of lasagne and 1 portion of meat/tomato base ready for the freezer too. Was really impressed by on-line delivery that still managed to get here within the timeslot - although we're getting snow it's not as heavy as in some parts of the country. Need to decide what we're having for dinner - not sure yet but will hopefully have something within the depths of the cupboards/freezer and not succomb to a takeaway!
Was reasonably productive yesterday - managed to get to town do the jobs needed and get home by 9.25am, guy from bathroom company arrived on time and did his measuring and I told him what I wanted etc - he will be in touch with a plan from the computer and prices this next week. After he left I got stuck into the ironing, some still to wash but not loads, changed bed, sorted the main food cupboard out as had several tins/jars sitting on worktop as couldn't fit them in the cupboard - managed to tidy up the cupboard and then fit everything in - so kitchen looks much tidier - I also now know I don't need to buy tinned toms or baked beans for a week or two as I have a very plentiful stockpile!
Today I will be continuing with the washing/drying/ironing, would like to get this all completely up to date if possible, will do some cooking/baking (was going to do some yesterday but realised I hadn't got some ingredients until the online shop arrived!) - so will crack on with this at some point.
Take it steady everyone x
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Good morning everyone ,only slight snow here last night barely covered the ground thank goodness, but very cold this morning so no thaw today and more snow predicted.
I'm going to have a pottering around day today, just clear a couple of drawers in the kitchen that need sorting ,this afternoon my eldest said she would pop down for an hour or so if the snow holds off which will be nice.NSD today as I have more than enough stuff in the cupboards and fridge /freezer to keep me going for at least another week, if not more.I think I shall hibernate today as its so chilly. The heating has just come on so it won't be long before my little cottage is warmed up.
Hope everyone has a good day and keeps safe and warm
Cheers Chums

Morning all
Well done Tessa, hugs to Molly, hope little Molly is ok, Lw hope Mr LW feels better soon.
Very icy here, hubby has walked to work on a full stomach as I cooked him a full English & made him a packed lunch & flask of coffee to take. I've fed the fish & got the WM & DW on & will do some more housework after I've had breakfast. Not sure what's for tea as I've no idea what time hubby will be home today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone,
LW My friend's cocker spaniel loves the snow, we got home from the pub last night and the dog shot out the door and started rolling around in it!
Molly Hope Molly dog is feeling better.
Hugs to all poorly people and dogs.
Hester Any chance of retrieving your car today?
JackieO Well done to Tessa.
We have about two inches of snow here. We seem to have got off very lightly compared with the west of the country. I won't be driving anywhere in this but apart from that life will go on as normal.
I have a quiet day planned, a bit of local shopping and some more decluttering, inspired by you Molly, you are doing so well.
Stay warm everyone and have a lovely day.:)0 -
Morning all
Have about 4 inches of snow , then road isn't passable as its a steep hill , I'm assuming the main roads are clear
Fed the guinea pigs , we bring them inside when the weathers bad , fed the cat and been out and fed the birds , please remember to put food and water out for the birds in this weather , there is a blackbird sat tucking into a fat ball I made yesterday
Dd2 and DH are still in bed so I'm enjoying my porridge and tea in peace.
Need to tidy up downstairs today , cleaned upstairs yesterday then need to sort what to do for dinner
Enjoy your day everyone keep safe and warm x
(Hugs) to all who need. (((Jools)))0 -
Morning :hello:
We've had three inches of snow, it looks lovely. I'm tempted to make a snowman but everyone's out today (I'm secretly going YAY!!!) and it's no fun on your own :snow_laug
Morrison's was nice and quiet yesterday. We drove past the hill car park – the gates were closed why? - there were loads of kids out with sledges etc. and plenty of teenagers messing about in the snow.
Mr tru's getting on my nerves so I'm ignoring him
I want one of THESE I can't decide which one I prefer and there's nowhere to create one in my house. I'll think of something though – I HAVE to have oneBulletproof0 -
Good morning everyone
Woke up early to the noise of my neighbour digging his car out, brushing snow off, finally followed by a delighful ice scraping racket. I was not impressed but am glad I didn't have to get up at stupid o'clock for work like he did.
No more snow overnight but our car is completely iced up and the road looks like a skating rink so I can't see us venturing out unless we really need to. Am hoping Oxfam still manage to collect but if not, it can wait until next weekend.
DH is still fast asleep but as soon as he is awake, I am attacking our bedroom. Bed stripped, bedding washed, everywhere cleaned and hoovered. Then moving on to the landing and stairs but can't do the hall until Oxfam come and remove their boxes and bags.
Am off to search the freezer for something for dinner so will leave with well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who want or just need them. Oh I want one too! Am just looking directly behind me and there is a fantastic opportunity for a nook under the loft stairs so it would have to be a number 2 or a smaller number 8.
Wonderful idea for one day. Thanks so much for sharing TruLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all,
Not much snow here either. Just a light dusting, but its so cold and the wind yesterday was horrendous. B & Q car park felt like the North Pole:eek:
A general tidy round this morning and we are going to set up a little office area in the small bedroom. I am sick of having my dining table full of invoices so instead of the little room being a dumping ground, it may as well be put to good use.
Just spoke to mum and dad in Australia and looking forward to them being one on Tuesday, hopefully the snow won't affect their flight.
Going to make a Thai curry for friends coming round tonight.
Might have a couple of glasses of wine as we missed them on New Years Eve.
Have a good day whatever your doing, keep warm xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Hi All
Moorhen, no chance, the hill is too icy for me to walk up to get it.
Tru, lovely, I want one too.
