Thank for the explanations Rosa. Blimming misunderstandings though!!!! They're far too easy to create when you're texting, so hopefully you will get your fresh approach with him to properly sort things out and you can then snog his face off!!! (how old am I???)
Your career explanation was really clear. I completely get where you're coming from now.
How's your weekend lovely lady?

Today I am grateful for...
- Having a YNAB pot for vet bills and enough money for it to be full
- A lovely friend who managed to turn round my perspective on a problem from 'eeek' to 'oh this could be a new friend'
- The possibility of owning my own house. It's only just beginning to sink in how good that could be.
My weekend plans have been a bit detoured by a poorly little cat - but she's better now, thank goodness. I was soooo grateful when I was handing over my card knowing that I had money put aside to pay the initial fees and insurance beyond that if anything drastic ever happens. A couple of years ago I would have been really worried about where that money had to come from.
I had been planning to go to a training thing today but it's maybe just as well I didn't because it would have meant getting up way early. Sadly it also means I didn't get to see a fab friend but we'll fix another time to meet up.
I've also had a minor drama when someone sent me info showing that part of the sky pie project may well be already underway by someone else! I was a bit upset to begin with but then decided I'm going to get in touch and offer to help. It is a little complicated for various reasons that I won't go into here, but I've decided that as I originally offered to help with this because it should be done and I was being told it wasn't, the only logical thing to do is continue offering. Also, I've realised that it is really two projects and one is all mine - so all but the 'email librarian' tasks still go forward and I've already signed up for the language course.
Oh, and I bought another picture frame with three postcard size spaces in it - I'm going to write/draw out my current 'Core Desired Feelings' (< as in The Desire Map)so I can frame them and put them on the wall next to my vision board. I suspect there will be glitter involved
:money: stuff - thanks to Freeby I was reminded to check my MOT date and it's just as well because it falls three weeks before I thought it did . Fortunately my lovely local garage have fitted it in before I go on holiday, so it will be all serviced and MOT'd before I go away (which is just as well as I will be doing a LOT of driving). I've also renewed the tax and as I can't find the expiry date on the breakdown cover I think I will just buy AutoAid now and be done with it. Everything else is OK - haven't quite got confirmation of whether I will get my new pay at the end of the month but the form has definitely gone in.
So it's all good here

Thanks MT (hugs)
I'm crossing my fingers that something will somehow work out and I'll get to see him - I would really like to untangle that misunderstanding so whatever happens, happens clearly iyswim. I don't actually have his number but will FB message him when I'm in the area.
I'm glad the career thing made sense to someone else!

Today I am grateful for the gifts 'pot'... and need to think through a bit better how I use it.
I realised on Friday that it was too late to post a birthday card to arrive in time, so have been shopping in a hurry. £3.15 for a card in Smiths  seems steep to me but paid it rather than spend another hour wandering around town for something better. I also ended up buying a Hotel Choc gift card, which I don't normally do for people but this is a school friend who I rarely see and don't really know what she has or likes any more. And so it ended up being £10 on the card because £5 doesn't seem enough.
Now, this is silly, yes? She knows I have been skint, I know she's been skint, this is someone who never phones, never texts and rarely even comments on FB. She didn't reply to the text I sent on Friday night apologising that the card will be late. And I've already realised that I have no idea of her tastes. If I remember rightly, I bought Christmas presents in case I saw her over the holidays and ended up taking them back, because I didn't. So why have I just stressed over this and ended up spending £13? Well I found myself thinking 'she knows I've got a new job, it will look stingy if I'm earning more and don't send a present'... until I checked FB and realised that she hasn't even liked the post, so it's entirely possible she doesn't know I have a new job.
It would probably have been a better use if I'd just put the £10 in a charity box. Please remind me in future that if I'm worrying what a friend will think of the gift, they are obviously not a close friend and I should just send a card and be done with it.
*minor rant over, sorry*
I'm still very grateful that I have the gifts pot set aside as normally I love being able to buy stuff for the people I love without worrying how it fits with that particular month's budget. I guess I should stick with that feeling rather than letting obligation creep in.
Rosa xx
Edit: of course now I've thought about it, I'm worrying there's a reason she hasn't been in touch that I've missed. But how long can/ should you keep trying to keep in touch with someone who doesn't appear to know that phone work both ways?Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Ahh Rosa, I've done the same thing in the past. The less you know a person the harder it is to find something economic and lovely to their taste.
Maybe think "where do they fit on my vision board" to get an idea of where you want these people in your life. Just to give it some focus?
I really hope you'll soon get a chance to clear things up soon so you know where things stand.

Bit rude not to reply to the text to be honest - You are so lovely Rosa make sure your life is filled with those who deserve your kindness.
I'm sure it will make her day when she receives it. I do hoep she thanks you when it arrives.
Don't stress about it to be honest - you have been so thoughtful and all I can say is how lucky to have friends like you

Thanks MT and Sam
The card is going to be a day even later as I was on the train and in meetings all day today - set out really early and got back well after the post office has closed... and am refusing to worry about it. I'm not really expecting to hear back about it tbh, but we'll see.
All is well otherwise and I'm looking forward to my holiday next week!:T That's come round fast! :j

Wow! Next week! Excellent stuff. In accordance with your vision board, I will be thinking very positive and happy thoughts about how well your meeting up with the man goes and also to clearing out the misunderstandings.
Definitely don't worry about people who don't put much effort back. You're far too good for that malarky!
Roll on Rosa's holiday! MTx0 -
Wow Rosa, I have just finished your whole thread and I can't believe how inspired I am by you and your lovely followers. I have been lurking for a while and have just joined but have ummed and arred about starting my own diary. I have roughly the same amount of debt you started with (but less income) and I now know that I can get there.
Subscribing and hope you have a lovely holiday. You really do deserve it.
Oh and you have my very first post lol
