  • Well I'm having a rather reflective day... have been absolutely worn out after work, driving up north for Christmas and then driving back in a hurry due to the predicted snow. I've spent most of today asleep or reading and will probably do much the same for the rest of the evening. Although I may also run out to Waitrose as I've no fresh veg in the house - I've been buying it with the intention of cooking but eating on expenses so cleared the fridge before Christmas!

I don't know quite where the money situation is going to end up after my next paycheque but am hoping I can be DF at the end of the financial year. I will have some more college fees to pay but should be able to do that in installments, so am hoping to not have to run up any actual debts. I do still owe my parents for the car loan but that's flexible and I don't feel bad about it since they insisted I buy a better car than I would have done otherwise and the main reason I keep a car is to ensure I can get to them in a hurry if needed.

Now I'm wondering what next. The debts and trying to manage them have been part of my life for so long. I'm very proud of having managed them reasonably well and the skills I've picked up in the process, and also learning that they are just money and don't reflect on me as a person. I do feel I will have much more freedom once DF, and I think I might need a new goal :D though maybe I should pick some little ones to start with... buffer fund maybe :)

It's just lovely to have choices. And no guilty feelings treating yourself to something when you know the money would be better spent servicing debts.

I seriously think money management should be taught in schools - now more than ever with the 'want it now' society we live in.

Can't go wrong with a buffer fund.....

Yes, very true. I treated myself to a gorgeous pair of earrings from a shop near where I've been working - they are my memento of this time and of that feeling of knowing that I'd so much more than covered them with the overtime money! I don't have a single twinge of guilt looking at them and I hadn't realised how unusual that is until I put them in this morning :)

    Thanks Vasseur :)

Well yes here it is, 2015, hopefully my last year in debt :T

I don't think my manager sent in my overtime form for this month before the deadline, so probably won't get it in January's paycheque :( but I should get it in February. And the remaining card is interest free so it's not costing me in the meantime :D

I still don't know how much my college fees are going to be or what the overtime will add up to, so am not going to make any very definite plans, just going to keep plodding.

I've just completely cleared the second-last card... pleased to find my calculations were spot on and I only had £25.00 left to pay, so that's been sorted with the debit card. Another CC late, unlamented and GONE!

In small moneysaving things today I found yesterdays' bus ticket and realised I had been organised enough to get a day pass so that got me into town for free :D to take back some 'emergency presents' that I didn't actually use (stuff for people I thought I might see at the parents and didn't so never even wrapped it) - that's £17 back in the bank account.

My expenses CC is a bit of a mess and I still have another two weeks of claims to do, so will sort that tomorrow. Now that we are past the holidays things should get paid quickly and so I should have that untangled and know where I am again by payday. Then it will be onto a proper kicking for that Last Card :D

And now that I'm not trekking in and out of the city I can go back to cooking and Ebaying again... so that will help too. I've got several things ready that just need photos taking and listing, I was only putting it off as it was difficult to get things posted while working in the city.

Can't let these things slide now as have just noticed I seem to have got a fourth star from somewhere  - have I been here that long  ?!!

Well done on getting rid of the card. Really snowballing down the hill now :T

I've just got back into eb@ying and have made a little bit of money this weekend. As soon as I hear those little bidding notifications pinging on my phone i wonder why I don't do it more often. It's definitely getting me through this month.
