Balancing not just the budget

Annoyingly, after all that waiting the bag I listed on Ebay hasn't sold! I've just relisted it as it was already a low cost for the brand, and have added two more bags and a top. See how it goes... I have a winter coat and dress to go on there next week too.

Finally caught up with myself and rather surprised to find the dents in the budget aren't quite as bad as I'd thought.
I've massively overspent on groceries (through not paying attention when running around for college) but at least it's stuff that's in the freezer and I didn't spend on eating out instead. I came in slightly under budget overall for travel to college, which was a welcome surprise given that it was four days of parking and coach plus metro.
Also two osteopath appointments this month which don't come cheap - but mentioned this to Mum who said not to worry too much about paying back the car money immediately, so have just dropped the payment on that for next month to cover it. I will also have an expenses payment coming once I sit down and sort out the receipts etc.
I reckon I can even everything out again and still take £100 off the main card - taking it down to sub £1,250 - and £50 off the other one, which will get it to sub £3K :j . Not as good as I wanted, as I had hoped to get back to making bigger payments and to knock off another £150 this month... but still good plodding. Sub £4,250 in total and maybe break that £4K barrier next month.
Oh and I have a bid on the top I put on Ebay so hopefully a first sale coming up :T suspect I've overpriced the bags so may drop their prices on relisting. And will list the coat on Sunday.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Well done on the eBay sales Rosa. 4 out of my 5 items sold which was good. Need to get them posted. One still running on a BIN. Might list some more this weekend.
At least the freezer is stocked up - on the subject of grocery shopping, I have been doing a lot more shopping at L!dl since one opened locally and really noticed the difference in our spend last month. I suspect its a combination of prices and less choice so you end up picking up less stuff that wasn't on list.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

You're doing ace, Sweetie - we're all here to make our finances work more consistently, not just to clear our debts...so any time you can knock *anything*off the debt, that's worth a pat on the back and a victory dance around the living room. xx0 -
I came over here from Nora's thread because you said to tell you off if you hadn't posted. And you have!

Hello lovely people! *welcome hugs to Nora and Banwa*
I am currently doing victory dances round the kitchen as I just popped my Ebay sales cherry lol... first sale completed and packaged up ready to be posted tomorrow! One top that no longer fits me converted into £3 in the bank and therefore off the debt :T:j One of the bags sold too but I haven't sorted that yet as have just realised I can't immediately see which postage option they wanted... so will try and find it later.
Nora you're very right, it is about getting into good habits and I'm really pleased to have finally made the transition to selling things instead of either keeping them as clutter or giving them to the charity shop when I know that really I should take some of the money off my debt. Hopefully this will lead to decent feedback and make it a future habit
NSD today as I have been mostly doing chores and then went round to a friend's to drink tea and work on our CVs and LinkedIn profiles. Friend even sent me home with leftover curry for my tea :j

I've been naughty
I bought the winter coat I've been watching on Ebay... was going to wait til next month but one of the two sold and so I put it on the CC for now.
No, I don't remotely need it... I have two of these coats in different colours already, and another similar cut in a third... but I really, really want it and it will last for years. It's a third of what they cost new and less than the last one I missed on Ebay.
Actually stuff self-flagellation I'm glad I got it:rotfl:
Am really enjoying having properly cleared out my wardrobe as my style has changed - now I can focus on the things I love.

Eek, receipts piling up again. I shall have to deal with them tomorrow or Thursday.
Have continued the clothes buying badness but only with L1ndy B0p dresses to try which are only £35 minus 13% discount and did not buy LK Bennett in the discount outlet, have bought a nicer dress on Ebay for less than half the price instead
Have had one more Ebay sale but didn't list anything this week as have gone on secondment... this means working in the city til the new year and will limit post office options. But will be very good for the CV and has already cheered me up - I really needed to get out of the old place and I met an old friend before I'd even been in the building two hours. There should also be overtime, which should help compensate for the dress buying

My poor YNAB is a mess
I've been doing headless chicken for over three weeks now and just haven't managed to keep things straight. But have got all the non-expenses in and just sorted through my expenses receipts to at least get them in order and enter tomorrow and Wednesday. Then I really have to put the ruddy claim in ASAP!
I've put in my overtime claim today and am hoping that the two months of it after Christmas will cover my winter wardrobe updates as well as clearing the smaller CC - I've bought a few smarter things as am working in the city office now and don't feel I can turn up in jeans occasionally like I could in the office here. But the shoes were on offer in Deb3nhams and the dress was Ebay so don't feel too guilty. I'm now sorted out with 5-6 smart dresses plus appropriate shoes, coat and bags so shouldn't need much more work stuff this winter/ spring.
I'm going to try and straighten things out a bit this week as we get paid tomorrow, but fully clearing things will probably have to wait til December when the overtime comes through. I've been pretty good apart from the work clothes (haven't had time to shop, apart from anything else :rotfl:) so am hoping it will all work out positive.
In other news I've applied for another job in the same organisation and have been looking at flats in the area to rent. Also looked at buying but am still horrified at the prices. I'm thinking of moving a little further out to get more space for the money and still have a decent rail link, so might look at renting first anyhow.
Sold a couple more things on Ebay though am a bit peeved as the top price so far is for a bag I sold on Sunday and the buyer hasn't paid... and has poor feedback in one entry despite it being a positive... so have messaged today to remind them and ask which postage service. Would normally send it tomorrow but will wait to see if they reply and if not guess will send on Wed with tracking. Pleased I got going with Ebay anyway.
Am so tired I know I'm not making sense so think it's time I took myself to bed- keep reminding myself it's already week 4 of 8 and how much faster I can get DF with all this overtime...
