Yes, because at the very least, the tide of interest moves with you, instead of against you. Not just interest, but options in the money sense as well as life in general. Better credit deals, for example, though I need them less.Just be careful and do your usual due-diligence. Yes - will see what I find out from them, and perhaps find a local one for comparison. It should be an independent financial advisor though, just going via the union to find out who works in the field, on the recommendation of another IFA acquaintance.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Not just that, but being able to buy higher quality items which are more expensive up-front, but lead to a lower total cost of ownership - AKA buy cheap, buy twice."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Another box decluttered - this was mostly vases and I am sorry to say that I don't think they've been used once since I moved in here. Partly I had forgotten about them and partly there just isn't surface space in this flat to use them. I will keep some, particularly as a couple have sentimental value, but the rest will go to the charity shop. Everything is rinsed and draining overnight so I will reorganise these and some other related stuff tomorrow. I have far more candle holders than I can use in the current flat but again there are some I want to keep for the future anyway. I will try and get rid of some and have decided to treat myself to another ultrasound diffuser with my 3bay funds, as that takes away the need for candles and is much safer (especially with small nosy furries in the house). My current one doesn't have a 'light completely off' setting so I can't use it at night - I will buy a new one which does and move the old one from the bedroom to the living room.
That should mean the kitchen will be finished soon as the only thing after that is the Cupboard of Doom *ulp* - but even that will only take a couple of hours to wash things up and ditch or reorganise them. It's looking good... and I'm thinking of having a wander round the garden centre to see if I can find something to motivate me with sorting the garden! Perhaps a waterlily pot

Hello Rosa,
You've really made me want to try that chocolate. Perhaps a trip out later is needed! I'm eating far too much of the cheap stuff
Happy new laptop! Isn't it nice how options open up when you have money. Also, I think our attitude changes too so we can potentially drive a harder bargain? It's lovely to hear you're feeling that benefit. I've really enjoyed witnessing your journey.

I didn't know about ultrasound diffusers until reading your diary. I've googled them and like them. I might try one in future
I have a pension from an old job that I'm thinking of joining to my current job too. I was going to try the pensions advisory government body first as they are free

Three carrier bags for the charity shop, and all the vases I want to keep are carefully packed in tissue paper in properly organised boxes. After all, if they're worth keeping, they're worth looking after, right? I am going to try and be much more careful about storing things as essentially if I can't be bothered to store them right then either I don't really want them or they won't be in good condition when I need them - most likely both. For my decisions this time I put everything out, looked at it and asked myself 'if I saw this in a shop, would I want it? How much would I pay for it?' and if the answer was 'No' or pennies then it went to the CS. It seems to have worked reasonably well as I feel I've kept the things I will use and that fit with my style now -,and given that I'd mostly forgotten I had them that's a bonus.
I didn't manage to sort the other boxes that were waiting so that's a job for another evening, but progress is still happening :rotfl: so will get sorted eventually. I've adjusted the July budget as plans for the weekend changed, so there is a little more spare than I thought.
Thanks for the pensions service pointer DIA :A, I will look at them but I think work already said that to really examine our options we need individual advice and that the general services wouldn't offer it. It would be great if they do.
And thank you MT, it's lovely to have company along on the journey! :A
