Balancing not just the budget

Thank you lovely lovely MSE'ers. I wouldn't have got here - or at the very least wouldn't have had as much fun - without you. :A:A:A:A
Well, 'tis done! I reshuffled my accounts and the 'car loan' money is now sitting in the Holyfx account, just waiting to be gradually transferred into my Help to Buy ISA. Together they make the total, so I can clearly see that's sorted. Now I will just use the Hfax account as a stop on the extract-money-FROM-the-banks money transfer cycle!I've also put some more money in the T5B account, so that it's earning 5% interest
I've made a top up payment to my electricity supplier, so that should be cleared when the direct debit comes out on 28th. I'm not entirely sure they are correct in saying I can't switch with a debit balance, but it means I'm clearing the last small debt I have today so did it anyway.
I even seem to have some money left over in ths month's budget, which I was not expecting :rotfl:so am just going to hide it in the Stuff I Forgot to Budget for category for now!
Now... how to celebrate? Lunch out on Saturday and picking up a Cook! dessert to take to my friend's on Sunday, there's a start
Oh and off to update my signature and post on the DF Roll of Honour! I'm really surprised how fast this seems to have come around - a little while ago that seemed like it would never happen!

Thanks DIA. I think you're absolutely right, my future self is delighted. I'm looking forward to finding out what life is like when I'm living in the present, and no longer paying for either decisions in my past or study to change my future. I will be sticking around to keep myself on track so I hope to be able to applaud your DFDay too:rotfl:Happy Debt-Free Day!

Just read your entry in the debt free roll of honour. Yay, that makes it extra official somehow :cool:If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Have you considered going back to the first few pages of your debt diaries? This will help to show you how drastic your changes have been. Day to day doesn't make much difference in how we feel etc, but reading back and remembering how we felt when we wrote those things really puts things in perspective, I think.
However you decided to celebrate, I hope it feels great.

Hi MT
You're right, I will do that when I set up new budget and new goals.
Re celebrating, i decided to buy a skirt I've wanted for ages with my fun money - only to find that the Etsy shipping is not right so am having to wait while the seller sorts it! And I decided I will go away in June.

Oh its annoying when that happens isn't it - I bought a picture for a friend's wedding from etsy in place of a card, only to have to pay £4 more for the postage than what was quoted. Whilst not a massive amount, it did rather push it beyond what I had been looking to pay. Still it was just perfect and i'm glad I bought it.
Enjoy your trip in June - how long are you going for?Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I hope you've managed to sort out the skirt shipping now. That's pretty frustrating when that happens.
Do you know where you want to go away to? How long will you be gone? I love booking trips away.
