So per year without perfume:1185.50 or 99 per month.
With perfume: 1260.50 or 105 per month

Thanks for your breakdown, with perfume is great. So that would make yours very nearly comparable with mine J but I don’t have nearly as many actual treatments as you do so I think I still need to cut some more out of my budget….

My one thing left that is perhaps a luxury is waxing - I also only have 1 area waxed (as other people have referred to!!). This costs me £22 and I have to travel a way to have this done. I really don't want to give this up - I have it done every 5-6 weeks. Don't really know what the other alternatives are. I don't fancy shaving or trying to wax myself!

Lol, waxing and luxury are not terms normally used together, but I’m totally with you. Can’t not do it, it’s a necessary evil, and I’d never be able to do it myself either. Shaving, depillory creams etc…. tried them all, nothing works. That’s a bargain price! My place has just gone up to £35 …. need to find somewhere else fast.

I think where you live in the UK can make a difference too.

I completely agree with this, London prices are stupid. And there are huge variations in prices, you really have to go hunting.

Thanks Hughjass, will give that a go.

If I had to pay full price for everything that I have (rather than doing it myself), I'd pay a shade under £300 a month.

Lucky you’re able to do such a number of treatments at home, very envious! Glad you’re not actually paying that scary number!

Body shop make up remover and eyecream from Avon. Foundation is another HG and is Nars so pricy, but I use only two bottles a year. Have found a dupe for the colour but not the finish, but maybe I can swap one bottle for the cheap stuff to use on some days. Eyeshaddow, mascara etc... is all high street brands bought on Boots 3 for 2. My blush could be cheaper though as its MAC. Still searching for the perfect facial suncscreen too. Humm.

I take my make-up off with coconut oil, it dissolves everything including waterproof mascara and gel eyeliners, and if you get the bog standard stuff not the organic extra virgin cold pressed, whatever, it's like £2 for a 400g tub that'll last you months and months. I wash with my regular cleanser (Clinique soap) just to get the oil residue off afterwards. I don't even need toner with this routine.

As for make-up, I just discovered this guy called gossmakeupartist on youtube. He regularly does top 10 foundation/concealer/blusher/etc. videos, and he does recommend some expensive stuff like MAC and NARS, but a good amount of the stuff he recommends is usually tons cheaper or what you get lasts tons longer than the designer names, he especially hates on brands where you're paying for the name not the product. He also does reviews of high-street brands like maybelline and compares them to products like MAC. His stuff is so helpful, I really can't say enough nice things about him.

Thanks for this runfaraway. I'll give the coconut oil a try.

Been checking out that very cute guy! Will definately tune in and see what he recommends :)

If you are London based, and your one waxing treatment at the salon is a hollywood wax, then

X It is excellent, but it is £40, they used to be cheaper.

    http://www.xit-soho.com/prices.html

they include quite a wide area for a hollywood, they do lower back, buttocks and extended bikini line.

This one used to be £25, but they have a 10 per cent student discount and they used to do special offers like 5 pounds off. Since i had laser, i have not been waxing and prices may well have gone up in the past year.

    http://www.wahanda.com/place/beauty-magic/

There must be other people in London reading this thread who could recommend cheaper good places for a hollywood wax.

If i wear makeup, i take it off with olive oil, but will try coconut oil too.

Skincare (face wash, cleansing oil, toner, day & night moisturiser and body lotion) = £20 a month if averaged out

Makeup = £10 a month if averaged out

General (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste etc) = £10 a month

Haircuts = £30 every two months

    Facials = £40 every 6 weeks

    Waxing = £20 a month

    Manicure = £45 a month

Holy moly it adds up! I feel shocked it is that much and for a few minutes I felt guilty and excessive.

However, I work very hard and have a good salary. The above (other than basics) are my luxury treats as I use nice products. I don't wear loads of makeup or look like Barbie either, but I do take care of myself in all ways (weight/diet and skin especially). I like to look presentable, especially at works as in a lot of management meetings so being neat etc helps.

That said...if I couldn't afford my facials, manicures etc I would be fine. I kniw they're luxury things and I see them as treats and not essentials. If I lost my job, I'd lose the costs easily. When my bf was getting divorced I didn't have the facials and manicures to save ££££ to help him out.

    Still...!

PS people get me salon vouchers at Christmas etc so I don't pay this alone come to think of it.

Necessity ( face wash, Femfresh, body lotions etc..) £20 avr
make up, very basic, no more then £5

Nonchalante underarm pads £14 ( can last 6-7 weeks)

haircut, £ 45 every two months ( dying hair myself)

facial £30 once in 2 months

parfume, just bought dkny 50%off in boots, think it was £21, will last few months

    No waxing, no manicure
  • Hair - Get whatever is on offer at supermarkets for 4 for 3pounds every month. Hair every two months, never more than 5pounds. So 5.50 every month.

Skin - Palmolive shower/bath milk, 2pound for family size pack, lasts me and OH at least 2 months. So about 1pound a month. For moisturizing, I use a drop of olive oil on my face and hands before bed. No true cost there as oil is budgeted for in the grocery budget.

Nails - they get cut with clippers that we already have.

Other hair - Pluck my own eyebrows, shave legs/armpits with razor and blades from Iceland for 1pound, have lasted me 4months now. Use scissors and gentle () shaving to keep other areas under control...:rotfl:So 25p a month.

Teeth - Colgate whitening when on offer for 1pound, lasts two months. ASDA toothbrushes firm 50p for 2 pack. SO 75p a month.

Eyes - The last pair of glasses that I bought (free eyetest when buying specs) were 125pound... 3 years ago. In my profession (which does involve dealing with the public and requires a decent standard of personal presentation) my glasses get bashed about quite a bit, so it was time to replace them recently. Sadly once again the only pair in the whole shop that didn't make me look hideous were again 125.. So I will make them last 3 years again, which works out at 3.47 a month.

TOTM - I buy Always when on offer 3 for 5pound. Will last me two months so 2.50 per month.

Make up - black mascara and two black eyeliners from Primark once a year - 2pound. So about 16p a month.

Deodorant - Palmolive roll on when on for 1 pound. Lasts a month.

OH has no complaints about my maintenance, in fact, quite the opposite :p I also have no shortage of admirers :o

Grand total of 14.63 a month.

Those of you that think that over 100 a month is low maintenance.. Sorry but...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't think this thread is a platform for people to belittle others or make superior, sarcastic comments of that ilk.

Each to their own and so long as you're no crippling self with debt/hurting anyone to do anything, nobody should judge anyone on their life choices. That's just rude

I spend very little. DH and I cut my hair between us. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, the odd tube of facial scrub and basic moisturiser. Handcream at work and home - usually some kind of body butter from Superdrug. Maybe £10/month? That's about it for me. I nick his razor to do my armpits and legs. Don't do make-up or a real skincare regime - my skin seems best if I just leave it alone most of the time. I'm not very girly and he prefers me au naturel :)

  • I don't wear makeup and my skin likes being left alone!

Hair cut today cost me £6 and will probably only get it done every 6 months.

Deodorant, shampoo and conditioner when it's on offer.

Perfume - bought a big bottle from duty free in June. Will prob last all year!

Got a box full of toiletries which I need to work through before I buy more!

    Don't get nails done.

All in all prob less than £10 a month!!
