I work outdoors, so even if I started out primped it wouldn't last!

Hair - big bottle of Aveda for £26 ish, last one lasted a year. Coconut oil as pre treatment/conditioner. Cut once a year-ish with trimming my own fringe, might push to £30/year
Skin - more coconut oil (oil cleansing method), using up samples of various spot creams. Soap - using up gifts and making my own - the fat and lavender were free so only cost is the lye.
    Nails - only cut them
Other hair - shave when bothered! Buy men's razor cartridges as they're much cheaper. If I get around to it looking at using a safety razor instead, replacement blades are pennies. Pluck own eyebrows.
Teeth - dentist once a year...ish...£17-something for NHS check up. Toothpaste normally from poundland, toothbrush on sale whenever the old one looks scruffy.
Eyes - lasered a few years ago so no ongoing costs apart from sunglasses that I tend to lose (last set were £3 at aldi).
TOTM - reusable, about £20 initial outlay.
Make up - only really use powder foundation and mascara, this set are "Une" from Boots, have lasted over a year so far :D Guessing they came to £8 each?? Eyeshadows etc I have lurking from ye olden days.
Deodorant - Wilko or poundland, any roll on under £2, don't tend to keep count of how long each lasts.

    Think that's about it?

I whiten them myself at home for pennies

    This bit really scares me!

Why every 2 months for the hygienist? Even my hopeless cases only ever need 3 monthly appointments. Do you have a serious gum condition?

Does the hygienist know about what you're doing to 'whiten' them? I'm worried that this might be contributing to whatever problem requires such frequent hygienist visits.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Very little really. As we have got the travel but, for short city breaks, so were saving saving and saving more.

Hair, now just do my own roots, when needed, share nice n easy with daughter

Don't have my hair cut, years ago i got a split ender, and i use this every 6 weeks just to take the ends off.

Lotions and potions, i've got quite a few, so i'm not buying any till all of these have been used up.

Make-up i don't use it unless i'm going out, never use it during the day.

nails, cut and file them, occasionally use varnish, used to pay for tips but not anymore

Same with food, we budget loads, and bulk buy, and i cook and freeze loads of stuff.

And we love our cheap get aways with the money we have saved.

I consider myself fairly low maintenance/natural but doesn't look like it on paper... I pay London prices though for treatments but are cheap for London.

    Waxing - 4 weekly 3 parts B2GOF - £55

Hair - 6 weekly - £110 for colours £145 if a cut as well every few appts - (don't use any 'products' and only use organic shampoo/conditioner)

Fem Hygiene - only use organic, not sure of price exactly, £3.50 a box? bought a case last time so bit cheaper

Dentist - 9 monthly, never seem to have anything done so just check up £17?

Glasses - every 2 years but as petite I tend to buy teen frames which are cheaper anyway, £100 for 2?

Toiletries/Make up - is all organic but I don't get through it at a fast rate - it's cheaper than a lot chemical/brand products! Nails are natural though have a collection of nail varnishes - find they ruin the nails though.

Yeah I think this is pretty much where I am at. I certaintly don't look like I spend a fortune on how I look! Think this is maybe what my friends meant by low maintenance, lol.

Definate food for thought in the replies. Something like the dental plan would certainly help spread that cost, and I do need to go in for a check up soon.

Eye care i'm struggling with, could do with new glasses, but hate glasses althogether and surgery would be a better option. But would be more expense for longer ....

Contact lenses are an option I tried once, I just couldn't get them in! In fact, I tried for about an hour and became a sobbing heap!

Might be a good interim measure though, while I save up for surgery. I need at least £400 as a deposit.

I hear it gets easier, and I suppose if it doesn't then I just stop. If it's fine, then maybe surgery won't be needed.

Thanks for the suggestion, definately worth another shot.

I'd say I am the same!

Good luck with the eyes, I'd rather wear glasses than have anyone ever go near them again with contact lenses (it made me nauseous) or even worse an op..

p.s. My friends all say i'm really low maintenance! Little did any of us know :-) Suppose a bottle of this and a bit of that add up.

Sometimes I see women with their dyed/highlighted hair, straightened, cut perfectly, wearing all the latest clothes, make-up and fake tan, and I think to myself how much must that all be costing? Not saying people shouldn't do it, it just makes me wonder how on earth they manage it. It's not unusual to go to the hairdressers and see someone in front of me spending in the region of £80+
