Hm, I wasn't really thinking lady parts :rotfl:
I just know if I'm at home I'm quite happy to not wear make-up, and it's fine to just wear old clothes for doing housework or being about the house. If I was in an office or a customer-facing role I'd wear some decent-looking clothes and a bit of make-up to look presentable.0 -
Thanks Boots babe,
That helps a lot with a realistic budget to aim for. I'd need to add on some for waxing and a bit more for hair cuts (say 35 p/m) so that brings it up to £80 p/m which would still be less than I'm currently predicting.
I based it all on full prices, but hope to find offers for most of it. Have 18 months of make up remover and a years worth of deoderant stashed already (but counted in this budget as bought this month). I'm looking into that DenPlan thing which was suggested so that's likely £12 a month, and contact lenses which I've not got a price for yet. Eek, higher than most of the responses, but covers more than the original budget did at least.Debt free (finally) and saving a deposit for my first home.0 -
I spend very little compared to most although I've never worked it out. I don't get any treatments such as waxing, threading , only have a trim which costs £8 and never had a manicure. I rarely wear make-up either.
My dental and optician checks are free and I usually get my teeth cleaned annually for £18 and my last glasses were £200 almost two years ago.
Use Boots and Body shop for my cleansers, shower gel etcLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Thanks Hughjass, just spotted your reply. I am glad someone else out spends a lot on this kind of stuff, though you sound like you're really well turned out on it!£5 every month on hair dye which I also tint my eyebrows with

I would class myself at very low maintenance but I have never added it all up to see
Hair - about once every 4 months - around £20 (So £5 a month)
Electrolysie - £5 every 2 months (£2.50 a month)
Make up etc - I buy simple moisturieser for everyday use so £3 every 3 months or so. I do tend to buy quality make up - but generally in sales etc - Recently stocked up on Benefit stuff - £29 and will prob last the year. Eyeshadow is all xmas presents. Mascara - £10 a year, foundation - £24 (Haven't been able to find my Benefit stuff elsewhere - but rarely use it so it last a year or so!) - This all adds up to £6.25 a month
Femine Products/Shower gel/Shampoo etc - no more than £5 a month
Dentist - £21 a year - one check up and clean
Prescriptions - free
So total monthly budget - £20.50
I do get gel nails done sometimes, and occassional massages etc but these are one off treats, often with vouchers etc.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
I consider myself low maintenance too, but I am going to add this up (are we including perfumes by the way?).
Nails, done every 3 weeks - £40 per month
Facial once every 3 months £38 each
Eyebrow wax every 6 weeks - £5 each time
Dentist - roughly £30 per year
Skin care - Dermalogica, probably have to repurchase twice a year. Including foundation this probably works out at £150
Matrix Optismooth straightening plus trim, once every six months at £125 a time.
Cosmetics - mostly get as gifts or buy in the sale. Some I have had for years. So my spend is pretty low. Probably around £30 per year.
Toiletries including deodorant, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions etc. again, mostly sale, so probably around £50 per year.
If I add perfume in then it would add another £75 per year (I get some as gifts).
So per year without perfume:1185.50 or 99 per month.
With perfume: 1260.50 or 105 per monthSealed Pot Challenge 2013 #1947 (open the pot on 28th November 2013!)

This thread is really interesting.
I used to spend a lot on personal care but have had to cut back recently due to deciding to tackle my debt. I have cut back on haircuts by having my friend (who is a hairdresser) do my hair, rather than go to the salon. I have also started plucking my eyebrows myself rather than having them threaded. I also used to go on sun beds but have stopped due to cost and obviously skin damage. Cutting back on these things have saved me money.
My one thing left that is perhaps a luxury is waxing - I also only have 1 area waxed (as other people have referred to!!). This costs me £22 and I have to travel a way to have this done. I really don't want to give this up - I have it done every 5-6 weeks. Don't really know what the other alternatives are. I don't fancy shaving or trying to wax myself!0 -
I think where you live in the UK can make a difference too.
In London there must thousands of women spending more than a £100 a month on haircuts and having their hair coloured alone. Perhaps even more than a million as the population is 8 million+.
I don't by the way, I have been to an expensive hairdressers around 5 times ever.0 -

Its no problem just leave it on for less than your hair, if it comes out too dark a good exfoliate with gloves usually lightens it up, its very good if you have grey in your eyebrows which I didnt even realise I had until I tinted them properly:eek: I use an old eyebrow comb/brush to apply that I keep specifically for this treatment, taking it one step further I keep a pack of nice n easy in the shade I use just for this and use a very small amount for my eyebrows each time as they fade quite quickly, much more so then my hair, I keep the remaining mixture in the bottles tightly done up and it lasts for months, never had a problem, dont try it on lashes though, hth:)All power is from within and therefore under our control0 -
Well....!
I get up in the morning and wash my face and brush my teeth and hair... and go. I don't wear make-up.
However, to make you feel better Ruby... my nails are extended and shellacked at the max of every three weeks, my toenails are shellacked every few months, my teeth are whitened (dentist), eyeliner and brows are tattooed, I wax everywhere, I have a tan every week, my hair is cut and blow dried every 6 weeks. My lashes are permed and tinted. I wear contact lenses.
If I had to pay full price for everything that I have (rather than doing it myself), I'd pay a shade under £300 a month.0
