Doe's it not cross your mind that pulling in a load of extra people, which, as you will say, will increase the demand for housing and jobs, will increase the competition your own children will face?

Increase the cost of living for them? Increase the competition for jobs for them? Increase the pressure on services such as public funds and public healthcare, meaning in such a situation they are on longer waiting lists for treatments?

No, my kids are only young, and I hope they stay close so that I can interfere in their lives, but I don't know that they want to stay in the UK and work and raise families?
If they do find it harder to get jobs, it will perhaps mean that they need to broaden their horizons, maybe get more training? It wouldn't be the fault of the immigrants if finding work is harder? How far do we have to go back before we stop blaming immigrants? The 1970's and the Ugandans coming here? The 1960's when the West Indians came? Further back when we invited the Saxons to help with the invading Picts?
My children are not white, and because I have an English sounding name you presumed we all were, now open your mind and embrace everybody!
Think of the opportunities that immigrants bring with them!

I have to say I don't think Graham is a racist susan. He does however have a big beef about affordable housing which - although it is unfair to speak for him - I think is at the root of a lot of his thinking.

Anyhow, welcome to the board. It's good to have some new blood around.
