If all else fails, you can always try and win some!
There's a year's supply competition here: http://www.savethestudent.org/contest/win-a-years-supply-of-razors0 -

I have a full beard that I clip with electric clippers, but it's not a razor free option either. Virtually all men with beards remove the excess hair on their neck and many tidy up the edges elsewhere too with a razor every day or two. I don't actually find a razor blade lasts longer since I grew it.
So, I think it's more a matter of fashion than money saving.
However, not all razors are costly to use. I spend about £5-10 a year on razor blades because I have a safety razor. This is the best one I've tried (also cheapest):

I buy the replacement blades in a big packet on eBay and get 100 for £10, and as they're double sided that lasts me a year or two.
Another saving is using shaving oil rather than foam/gel. The major benefit is that it's clear so you can see exactly what you're doing, but I also discovered a tiny bottle lasts ages.0 -
Not sure about old fashioned safety razors they seem a little "unsafe" to me
People who are used to using the (comparatively) blunt cartridge razors tend to be too heavy handed with safety razors and cut themselves, but once you get used to the lighter effort needed it works well I find.0 -
have been using the Gillette sensor excell for the last couple of weeks, it's pretty good, I don't think it's as comfortable as the mach3 turbo but still ok.
Has anyone used one of these before? It looks like it cleans the blades rather than sharpens which is supposed to extend the blades life, seems to have good reviews, I'm thinking of giving it a whirl...if it works and extends the blade life it would make the mach3 price better,

I wonder how much the gel / cream / foam used has an impact on how often people buy razors...
I couldn't be bothered to take my bowl and brush with me on holiday this week, so bought some gel from the supermarket instead - and was *shocked* by how blunt my razor seemed...it was a really ghastly shave...Get home, lather up with my usual stuff and it's easily sharp enough again...
Just food for thought0 -
i bought my husband one of these

it really does what it says on the tin
it prolongs the life of razors so much
worthwhile buying0 -
I do think quality or preferred brand razor blades are a small luxury but one I would really have to be on my a**e to deny my boyfriend. I always buy them at a discount and think ahead, but it's the same as I would only use branded conditioner and shampoo. I always get them on offer/ from pound shop, too.0

I use the Tesco All About Men 3X Blade Shave System.
You get 12 cartridges for £3-23 - that's 27p per cartridge.
I find the shave is excellent, and a cartridge lasts for ages.0 -
Disposables are always cheaper than cartridges. Sainsbury's work out at a few pence each. Even the Gillette twin blade disposables are quite cheap.
One other thing, often the cartridge razor set works out cheaper per cartridge than the blades on their own. I suppose the razor firms rely on the husband buying the razor set the wife buying the replacement cartridges without knowing how much the set costs. It is a waste getting a handle that you do not need every time you want blades but it will save you money.0 -
I've been using this for over a month now to clean the mach3 turbo blade after every shave, so far have used the same blade for a month and it still feels sharp and looks like the blade will continue for some time yet, I shave on average 5 days out of 7. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Razorpit-RP-O-B-Razor-Blade-Sharpener/dp/B004W2UMDW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360934517&sr=8-1
Have to admit to being sceptical but amazon reviews were positive in the main so decided to give it a whirl. It seems to work by cleaning hair/ grease etc off the blade. By extending the life of the razor blades I'm less concerned about replacement costs as will be replacing them significantly less frequently.0
