Shutting school because one teacher is having an operation

    Never had OP down as a WUM. His silence speaks volumes here so far...

    I don't think he is a WUM. I just remarked that in previous posts he is always very anti-teacher.

    Maybe he should've posted this in Discussion Time instead of Vent. ;)

    Anyway FWIW I cannot believe the assertion in the OP. So maybe WUM is right...

    You don't half get some gossip coming out of schools. Apparently ALL the parents at the Vallikids comp are 'worried sick' about some rumours going round about certain staff.

    No, we're not, actually.

    And while we're at it teachers don't decide to shut schools for snow - heads do. And some of them take a LOT of persuading to make those decisions.

    That last bit is spot on.

    My OH went in today as the school is open and guess what? Fewer than 20% of the kids have turned up. Sitting at home watching loads of them going up to the hills with their sledges!!!
