Maybe he was expecting a load of replies saying how awful it was. Instead he got an almost collective "Huh?" So he's not interested in his thread any more. Just my 2p.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

No, it isn't a private school. His daughter is at an independent school but his son isn't.
Maybe it is an academy? The same school apparently shuts to pupils at 11am every Friday so the teachers can have non-contact time. That's also rather unorthodox. I have known whole schools to have PPA together but it is usually achieved by buying in sports coaching so school is still open but teachers can have time to plan together etc.
Worth bearing in mind that the OP is very anti-teacher. I've read some of his old posts and he always jumps on the bandwagon whenever someone is teacher bashing for whatever reason. So he could have just heard a rumour that has got out of hand and with chinese whispers been blown out of proportion (that's very common in schools)
Maybe he'll come back and enlighten us.
The anti teacher brigade are quite prolific on this forum unfortunately. I can't believe there have not been any posts the last few days with people blaming teachers because of the schools closing due to the snow;)0 -
Yes, I was very surprised that there were no 'why is the school closed for three snowflake threads?'.
Perhaps it was because the news featured people in a range of jobs who could not get into work.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

At the school where my son teaches they had no intention of closing on Friday afternoon. Then, at 11am they got a call from the school bus company who stated that the latest time they were prepared to send buses was 1pm, so if they had not closed there would have been no transport to get the majority of kids home. Clearly, they had no choice at that point and so they closed at 1pm.0

That's why the school where I worked closed early in snow. The kids from the outlying districts would gradually go, the head would sometimes look kindly on staff from the hills. But we townies had to stay until the bitter end!
I remember DS coming to tell say that he was going home, from 6 th form and me pleading with him to stay in case I needed a push with the car!

I have just posted this in D.T
Just got the word , school is closed tomorrow, so have done my bit on the 'phone tree' Now waiting to hear from some , complain their 'baby sitters' are having the day off and their lives are ruined!!
Ps The closure was prompted not by the staff but the coach operators, but try explaining that.0 -
