Has Barclays slowed up

Before Xmas Barclays sent me a letter informing me that I may have been miss sold some ppi on a barclayloan in 2007.

I filled in the form online and within 5 days they had paid out into my current account. Not much though around £400.

It opened my eyes somewhat an I realised that I had a ppi policy on my current account with Barclays, so I submitted a claim for that to, this time a paper one through the post.

They sent me a letter back on the 2nd of Jan saying that they could not find a ppi policy on my account and that they consider the matter closed. I sent proofs in the form of statements back to them immedietley and they re-opened the investigation but I have not heard anything since. I called them once and they said it is still with their decisions team.

It's odd considering that the first time it took under a week from submitting my form to receiving payment. Anyone else been waiting for a while?

What kind of PPI policy did you have on your current account? What "proof" did you send them?

They have (and will definitely take) eight weeks to respond to your concerns.

    Sorry,

It was Overdraft Protection. I was told it was part of the additions account years ago, but it wasn't. I didn't need it.

I was self employed and had £50k with Barclays in an account, they just put it on and lied to me.

On my statments it used to say "overdraft protection" £4.80, which I was told was part of the additions account when I took it out years ago last year it changed to "payment protection" £4.80.

When I had the loan the guy told me if I had the ppi I could have the funds instantly! What a crock.

So in respose to your question I sent statements which state the above.

So, you need to allow at least eight weeks for them to respond.

What I don't get is the first time I complained I gave them my account number and told them what the issue was and they could not even find the ppi policy.

If it was "years ago" as you state, the Bank will likely have had no record.

It will be interesting to see what happens then as I guess it is my word against theirs.

Not if, as you say, you've provided full and comprehensive documentary evidence of the policy. What reasons did you give for complaint?

    Hello

I am in exactly the same position. I first sent my Acceptance Letter back at the end of October. I thought I would give them 28 days to pay it in before I contacted them at the end of November. When I called at the end of November they said they had not received it. I sent it again by fax and they have confirmed receipt on the 23 November. I called to make sure they had received it and they confirmed all ok the payment should be with me by 21 December 2012.

As you can imagine, 21 December came and went and to be honest I lost heart to chase it before Christmas, so I left it until the new year. I called again first week of the New Year. They confirmed that it was 3 weeks over due. The lovely lady at Barclays said she would send a chasing email to the payments team. She said there was no time limit to the time that they had to pay out the PPI. I heard nothing.

Called again last week, spoke to a customer adviser who was yawning all the way through the conversation, I asked him if he was tired and he said 'yes'! He said he would send a chasing email to the payments team as there shouldnt be any problem with payment at all and this should have been done some time ago.

Here we are another week on and still ..... nothing!

I think you will find that there are people on here that have been waiting for their money from Barclays since April 2012.

The Ombudsman said I am to contact them if I havnt received the money within 10 weeks of the date I sent my acceptance letter back ... so that will be the 1 February 2013 ......

Er, no you're not. The OP is waiting for a response to his complaint-not for redress already agreed.
His original complaint was upheld and paid out within five days...

I have just called barclays ppi team and they have upheld my complaint!

They are working out how much they owe me now! 13 years of £4.80 a month +interest!

Excellent! Im definately going to go after my old credit cards now. A good complaint reason is that you had a good wedge in the bank so you did not need their ppi.
