Has Barclays slowed up

Contact the ombudsman and ask them what's happening.
You don't have to work out what you'll get, Barclays will do that. If you want to do it though, add up all the PPI and that's your basic return, then interest on that, then 8% simple interest on that.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Exactly the same position as me, unfortunately it's a waiting game. It's worth giving Barclays a call even though it won't progress your complaint, if you get a friendly assistant they'll at least tell you if they've accepted the FoS assessment. In my case they've confirmed this twice now.
It does appear that Barclays are dragging this out as long as possible and effectively dictating time frames to the FoS rather than the other way around. They apparently downsized their PPI operations recently and got rid of many experienced PPI handlers.
Give the FoS a call as well, I spoke to them last week and they informed me that the complaint would be forwarded to a full adjudication, that Barclays wouldn't be able to submit any new evidence or appeal the initial assessment given that they'd ignored the FoS date. They also said that they were writing to Barclays again instructing them to pay up immediately!
Unfortunately there are many on here who have waited months for payment even after Barclays have made an offer. You will get your payment but will have to be patient.
If you've been paying £99 on your PPI for several years you will be inline for a substantial windfall and remember that it's currently growing at 8%!0 -
Thank you for your responses, I know I have to be patient. I emailed the ombudsman at the beginning of January and got an automated response but no answer, so today I have phoned them and they have said they chased Barclays on 10 jan, that Barclays may be making an offer or sorting more evidence which I don't understand as they have passed the deadline. The lady on the phone made it clear there decision could change and there is nothing more I can do apart from wait and they will let me know if something happens. So it looks like that's all I can do. I might try Barclays though, I didn't think they would speak to me but it's worth a try. Thanks again0

A bit of Background, New Poster.
I started my complaint with Barclaycard in may 2011, I asked for a copy of my terms and condtions which clearly showed that the box was pre printed (it was a leaflet that was posted to me, which is why i didn't have a copy) and that the policy wasn't signed for seperatley. The policy didn't have my signature or date on. at this time i also tryed to cancel the ppi which was still on the account this took 4 months 3 letters and several phone calls. So I sent the very useful ppi questionaire in (from this site) on 26 may2011. i than got 4 letters back from them over 3 months saying they were snowed under each from a diffrernt person and department, eventually they sent me a letter end of September 2011 to say i did not have a complaint and that i had ticked the box. So i decided to take this to the ombudsman in October 2011. after several update letters from the ombudsman with updates that they are very busy, i fianlly got a letter on 6 november 2012 to say that this is there initial assesment which is to uphold my complaint (on several points) and that Barclays have until the 26th November 2012 to responde to the ombudsman and put me in a poisition i would have been in. This hasn't happend, it is now nearly 8 weeks past that date and i am just wondering what happens next. looking at the letter to Barclays i think it now go's to a full ombudsman, is the decision likely to be the same? how long it that likely to take? I think Barcalys my be stalling as i have had this barclaycard since 1999 and been naughty and had quite a high balance for a long time. I have all the statements and some of the ppi was upto £99 per month. another wuestion how do i work out what i should get?
Thank you for any help
Sorry i know this is an old post:
A bit of an update really and what to do next, I responded to the FOS on the points that Barclaycard had come up with to refuse my claim back in January 2013, I finally got an update from the FOS in November 2013 to say that due to there involvment Barclaycard will now be upholding my complaint, :j and that i don't need to do anything else. Barclaycard will be in contact with me within 8 weeks with an offer. Guess what 8 weeks are up and i have heard nothing from them. Do i now contact Barclays? and if so which department? or do I go back to the FOS? Thanks for the help.0 -

Contact the FOS would be best .
Today the FOS responded to my query about redress from when I was told in September.
Barclays have not responded to my two requests for update due to my details of account not been updated !!!
So the FOS will be sending on to Barclays my ID and bank details for a BACS payment.
Barclays could not put me in the picture for some reason. :mad:Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -
Ok thanks Maggie back to the FOS it is then. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble too!0
