I already advised you in post 3 that a Freesat PVR would be the best option for you, in the absence of an aerial. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'm certain Sky would have definitely encouraged you to cancel their service by providing false information about what would be available to you after you ceased to pay them.hilstep2000 wrote: »Don't slag me off! The Sky guy TOLD me that the box would still record!!!!!!!

To be fair I have just taken up a subscription to sky+ HD and was told at the time of ordering that I could cancel the subscription anytime after the 12 months and still watch what I had already recorded...BABY SOPHIE BORN 14/08/08Cross Stitch Cafe member No:37

They are just "fuming" at you like you are "fuming" at Sky.0

I think people were expressing surprise that:
a. the Sky representative lied (or was badly mistaken) and
b. you believed him, despite many forum posts, web sites and eBooks that state otherwise.
If you want to save money sensibly, it's very important to spend time researching the specific subject (Sky+ and Freesat in this case) before taking any action.
Also, don't believe anything that any company representative tells you. Always get it in writing.0 -
I have a lot of sympathy for OP. i had sky multi room offer for £2.50per month for one year last january as I wanted a tv in bedroom and had no aerial so the cheapest route was multi room on offer for £2.50 pm plus an installation fee which came to a total which was cheaper than getting a local chap to install an aerial into my bedroom. At the time the sky adviser then said at the end of my year I can just buy a sky freesat viewing card for £25 and get free view channels but not all the extra sky channels I have downstairs. So this month I was going to cancel multi room at the end of the 1 year e.g now and just have the freesat channels and buy a £25 viewing card. I rang sky 3 times about cancelling it as i had to do it 31 days in advance. 3 different staff gave me 3 different versions of whether i needed a card or not and I still don't have the answer. Today I got a lovely chap at sky who tells me that once I cancel multi room I don't need any card it just reverts to free view channels but I will lose all my recordings and sky plus features. I am exhausted by the discussions so still have no idea. But that is the 1st time they've told me about losing my recordings but I did realise I couldn't continue to record so I did have a little bit of knowledge from the conversations. Anyway I was happy to end multi room and lose it all today anyway but he gave me the same offer for £2.50 pm for anotheryear so that means i can take another12 months to understand what a freesat£25 card is lol !!!!! ha ha !

Anyway I hope that helps someone understand something? and hope it helps anyone negotiate a multi room deal.

You already have a Freesat From Sky card. Your existing Sky multiroom viewing card will become a Freesat From Sky card as soon as your multiroom contract is cancelled.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Thanks Heinz. That's what he told me today but no one has said that before at sky. You've explained it much more simply thank you. One poster on here says its all on the boards and widely discussed but it can be very fatiguing to read everything. I try to remember that these boards are for everyone - some are clued up some are not - some are well and some are not so well so have to pace themselves to read and absorb the info. I find these boards informative so thanks to anyone who helps othersYou already have a Freesat From Sky card.
