Do you think that technically you could have a direct debit set up to take out say £5 a month out of the santander account to go to another account you have? In order to meet that atleast 2 direct debit criteria that is :P

Yes you can. Check this: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4168667

Ah right - - that might be the explanation! Wait a day or two, and your £2 will be taken, and your interest will be paid.

The cashback doesn't always get paid the same day as the interest.

Will do. Probably jumped the gun a bit I suppose. Will check it again in a few days and see what happens. Thanks for your help :)

You might be able to get some with the 123 credit card, but not with the debit card.

    Thanks for the reply innovate.

We successfully transferred all our direct debits over from another current account with a different bank to this new 123 account. Some of the DD dates were due too soon to make the switch over to come out of this new 123 account this month. But, there were two that made it and they did actually make it on to this statement. They were the elec and gas ( which we received the cashback for) and a regular life insurance premium DD. There's well more than £500 gone in to the account which is also showing on the statement too. Looks like I'll have to get on to them about it.

Oh, and their monthly £2 account fee doesn't appear to have been taken either, that I could see at least.
On my first statement the £2 was not taken, but I did get the correct interest and cashback.
I am due my second interest/cashback tomorrow so will see if the £2 is taken this time.

I really want to have this as a second account but I only have one direct debit... is it bad to pay for things outright all of a sudden!?
I'm not sure how direct debits mean not paying for things outright.

Opened 123 a/c 11 Jan 13, first lot of cashback and interest on balance was paid on 11 Feb. The first £2 account charge not taken until 7 March, so I presume monthly charge is well in arrears of the cashback/interest.
  • I have to say I'm extremely impressed with Santander 123. I've just switched after 45 years with the Natwest and everything has gone very smoothly. Only hiccups were non-Santander related issues.

I decided to use their switching system for my wagon-load of DDs and all seem to have happened painlessly.

Thanks btw to Innovate for his useful and practical advice! :o

As you can imagine, Natwest have been on at me constantly, begging and pleading with me not to leave, offering huge inducements etc for me to maintain my 45 yr relationship with them :rotfl:

Yeah, you're right. Not a peep, squeak or even mutter from them

Well the £2 has been taken today for the second monthly period, at least I think it is for the second period not a very late payment from the first.
I have not had my second cashback/interest but think it is possibly due tomorrow 9th.
