If not go to a proper garage and get it checked again[/QUOT
No he didn't use any tester. Just opened the cap , looked and said yer I needed it, went in shop and poured in half litre bottle, spilling quite abit pouring it in.so looks like its not gonna be done right. The tester I was gonna buy was the 1.99 one from halfords , had better reviews than the 4.99 they sell. Thanks

Half a 5 litre bottle then you should be OK. Half a 1L bottle then maybe not.

How much water does the cooling system hold? You need at least 40% antifreeze in it.

Half a litre bottle. Will it say in the booklet in the car how much.the cooling system.holds.? That's where I found out my tyre presssure . Thanks

No I didn't buy it, they said he could just look and check. I came away from shop thinking I could have easily done that myself. Open cap and pour neat in, though I would have bought a little funnel though so wouldn't spill. Maybe I would have been better taking it to garage. Was trying to keep it as cheap as possible. Lol. My dad did say he just has a look and it should be blue liquid you see.when I googled it thought I would take to halfords and ask there. Thanks

Keep seeing about a winter car check advertised. Are they worth going for?.they seem reasonable, but I kind of thought once they have the car they would say I needed this and that and not maybe things it necessarly needs but just to get work for them.just advertised as winter car check.

Did he check the antifreeze, or the screenwash.

    My money's on the screenwash.
  • You could book your Yaris in at Toyota, they do a free Winter Check, and a free health check. They'll check lots of things, including tyre tread depth, so if your tyres are wearing down they'll mention that. Again it up to you where to buy the tyres.

I can assure you that they won't 'find faults that aren't really there', as I've had various cars health checked by them, and haven't needed any extra work done. (The only time I needed anything was new wipers and that was mentioned at service time). Anyway they can't carry out repairs without your authorisation, they would explain to you what work needs done and its up to you if you let them do it or take it somewhere else.

With this obvious lack of ability and care, will you be using Halfords again?

Sounds like a good plan. Thankyou.

I took it there to get bulb replaced and also wipper blades, but I did no these needed replacing. Trusted them on the anti freeze to. Always seem very young lads , but maybe just cos I'm getting old.
