Are we worrying too much about our son's schooling?

We walk up our steps and we can see the school.
We moved here 10 years ago for my daughter as it is in a good area and plus the high school is very difficult to get in. Got all my 3 in there at the moment.
Last year they opened the "Flood Gates". Opened an extra reception class. Well that was the cat amongest the pigeons. Hearing a lot of people stating , "HOw rough some of the children are since they had an extra class of 30 children". Yes they are all out of catchment and I mean half hour away.
My hubby gets annoyed because yes we have broken our backs to move over here, if we where still in the old house we would be mortgage free, but there was other reasons why we moved here aswell as the schooling. He just gets annoyed when he sees people from our old "ESTATE" and no trouble at all getting in. Like I said to him they WON,T get into the catchment highschool anyway. Just gets his back up
What am trying to say is I was brought up on a council estate ( parents bought their home ) and went to a pretty rough school. I had 2 brothers there who looked out for me. I was painfully shy and never got into trouble. Okay, I just scrapped by on exams but now I am fine. Yes it was rough then and still in a rough school but I well believe it is also by the child whether they WANT to learne. My 2 brothers have also done okay for themselves.
Then there are the "STUCK UP" ones in the playground who think they are just far too good to speak. Now, I don,t even want to look at them never mind talk to them. There is a group who are called the "MULBERRY" bag gang. Yeap, say no more. All up to their eyes in major debt and walks around like Pippa Middleton.;)

Like yourself. It appears that being stuck up is ok for you though.
Oh for goodness sake. If you are happy for your children to mix with rough children, then fine, but most people aren't which is the point that raq is making. Equally, there are arrogant, well off kids who are into drugs that most people would not want their children to mix with and raq would probably say the same thing about them.0 -

Oh my word, I am no where near it.
What gets my husbands back up is that the ones that are outside catchment and just swan around the school when we have broken our backs to move to our home.
As I previously said I am proud that I grew up on a council estate and so is my husband.

Thanks.
Friend I know who went to a good school and because she was a stay at home mum all the "In growd" didn,t want to know her. Her son is now in Bristol University and all the other "STuck up Crowd" kids are high on drugs and cannot get out of it. Who is walking round with their head held high now.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

no
what raq is doing is acting snobbish to those from outside the catchment area who go to the school who in HER OPINION are dragging the school down but bizzarly critisisng those "higher up" for doing the same to her.
It is a matter of perspective and if Raq can cast judgements one way then he/she should avoid whining when the same is done to them.0 -
