Oooh interesting Winenut. I was invited to go on Real Deal and talk about my win but politely declined. Being on TV isn't something I really fancy lol.
    Guys,
These people hand out great prizes, surely giving a little in return isn't asking too much?
I've done 2 lots of filming and a third is coming up at my home, you are well looked after, meet interesting people but more importantly putting something back into ITV, if no one bothered, how long would it be before there were no ITV comps?
    It works both ways.

Some people hate the publicity I think Keith, which is fair enough. As long as some people are up for doing it I think it's fine.

I said I wouldn't mind doing it to the lady on the phone who called to check I'd got my cheque, but they never got in touch.

Now if it was the lottery, I don't think I'd do the publicity.
    Wish it win it 2013

  • There is no way on this Earth I want to ever be on TV. Partly just because it isn't me and partly for personal/family reasons. Not everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame.

Totally agree - i'm yet to have an ITV win but i wouldn't go on TV and shout about it.

If ITV needed the publicity or needed people to "give back," i'm sure they'd put a publicity requirement in their terms and conditions.

Some people like all that press stuff, but it's not for me.
  • I'd be very appreciative if I won something big from ITV....privately. If it was a stipulation to be on TV, it should really be part of the T&C's. Its just not for everyone.

Although I was live on GMTV a few years back with Keith Chegwin...nice bloke actually.

This is the ITV Winners Club.
[thread=910539]This[/thread] is a previous ITV Winners thread started in 2008 by zwgray. Some of the winners will be duplicated with this thread but I'm sure there are winners there that are not on this list EDC x

Really sorry that I didn't maintain the original list. I went on holiday after about five months, and with the benefit of hindsight I ought to have handed the thing over to another volunteer. Goodness knows how many wins we missed between July 2008 and the start of this new thread! I've started entering again when work permits. My only recent win is a nice new washing machine from GoodToKnow - nothing from ITV. But good luck to everyone!

Its nothing to do with shouting about it Tash, its about giving something back, ie, promotion, you are asked to appear in local papers etc which I have also done in return for cash prizes and such like.
As in life, It seems many are quite happy just to take and contribute nothing, lets just hope the promoters don't get fed up of the ingrates and scrap comps as they don't get the advertising in return, would you open your wallet regularly and give cash away to strangers who do nothing in return?
I must say I am surprised by the amount of negativity on the subject from compers on here.
ITV are not allowed to make it a condition by the way.
A better idea would be to half the prizes and then double them for those who co-operate.
I've heard the horror stories about some of the winners, not all are grateful from what I've heard.
  • There's a big difference between appearing on TV and appearing in the newspaper (be it local or national). I just couldn't and wouldn't want to be on TV. It's not about being ungrateful, I'm incredibly grateful for everything I win.

I disagree with you Keith, when you say they don't get advertising in return. I believe most, if not all competitions are run because it draws attention to their product/show/blog etc. The advertising comes from running the competition in the first place, not in promoting afterwards.

In the case of premium rate entry the competitions are run at a profit without taking any promotional values into account.
