Bad advice. Come March 25th, Microsoft are terminating the MSN Messenger service so you won't be able to use MSN/Live Messenger any more because the servers won't be there.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . we already changed when we got word of live messenger being discontinued. you dont have to fully utilise Skype as basically MSN/Live messenger is becoming Skype Messenger.
install skype and chose to login with your microsoft login details and it will open up skpe messenger and import all your msn/live messenger contacts over.
Thanks, can you tell me if I will be able to use hotmail through the skype messenger just as I can in live messenger? and does it alert when emails arrive just the same?Thanx

MSNLive Messager is just a message/chat service and has nothing to do with emails.
As debitcardmayhem suggest i think you are getting confused with Live Mail ( i bet you installed them all as the Live Essential package) which is the mail client that replaced Outlook Express0 -
what do you mean.

The only issue i have with moving from Live messenger to Skype is that their is no Skype App for Blackberry or Blackberry Playbook.0

Ahh ... I now see what you mean. you have MSN running (even if you don't use it for messaging), and like that it does the little popup when an email arrives, and you can click on it to read it etc.
Unfortunately I don't have a hotmail account to be able to answer your question, but Outlook express (does that even still exist?) or some other email client application will do the alerts thing you're after.0 -
I am confused
All I know is my messenger says windows live messenger at the top and I have it on whenever the laptop is on for easy acces to my hotmail through it and email alerts, it says inbox and how many emails I have too.
It just says in the email
Important info about your Messenger account
It's time to update Messenger to Skype!Thanx

Overlapped post!
See my previous message. I don't think you're really using Live Messenger for what it is supposed to be ... you're just using it for the email management.
I think you need an email client application (others will recommend, I am sure) ... but I doubt skype will do what you're wanting it to do for you.0
