This has warranted two threads?
Certainly not. I originally posted in the "In my home" section as stated in the first post, then re-posted in here under guidance from Yorkie. Good guidance it was too.
I am not sure however, how to delete my post in the other section so just linked to this one and directed people to reply here.

Don't worry about it, I'm sure if it's that much of an issue then a member of the forum team will delete it.0 -
In terms of your OP, I think you should definitely approach the agency and then follow it up in writing. It is likely that there is a term in the contract about not causing nuisance to neighbours. I think they have a blooming nerve personally to just start drilling things into someone else's property, it's not as if there could even be confusion over boundary if it's a completely different building!0

Nothing, the hinges are fixed to their side. Perhaps the diagram wasn't clear enough when I drew it, apologies.
The hinges are on their house wall (brown in diagram), the clasp/lock mech is bolted to two pieces of 2x4 which have been drill mounted to our wall (black in diagram).0 -
Yes they were wrong to attach anything to your house without asking, no doubt about that. However, did you really need to contact the letting agent ? Surely that is going to do nothing but cause bad feeling. I would have attempted to keep things amicable at first because once you start something between neighbours it can escalate into something much worse. Maybe a quiet word with them might have done the trick and if not, then take further action.0

Have they drilled the face brick on your side?had some tool of an NTL fitter completely smash a face brick on my property drilling into it,instead of drilling into mortar between bricks.
Personally i would'nt accept it and would have appreciated a knock of the door, for them to air their intentions.
Sadly the damage has been done nowOfficial MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -
I agree that you should probably have spoken to the neighbours before contacting the LA. They may have just agreed to take it down, and you've already said they're good neighbours (despite "gate"gate) and the LA could evict them after their tenancy has run out and you end up with absolute horrors of neighbours.
I would be pretty annoyed if my neighbours did this to my property though, so I know where you're coming from. Keep us updated on what happens.First Time Buyer: Mortgage Offered, Searches complete, Exchanged 21/12/2012, Completion 04/01/2013! :beer:0 -

Nothing, but then they would have fixed the slam plate to the op's wall with the same result, yeah?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
At least if the hinged side was on the OP property, it probably wouldn't have been as noisy.First Time Buyer: Mortgage Offered, Searches complete, Exchanged 21/12/2012, Completion 04/01/2013! :beer:0
