(Ref Charles Stanley).
I spent a while on their website yesterday and couldn't make head nor tail of it.
I'm surprised at that. Hopefully this link will work for you when clicked.

Ah, I was on the main CS site, not CS-direct ... very inadequate indeed
Thanks, JohnRo :T

Do CS charge for regular investment as part of an ISA? For example, if I buy one of the Vanguards in my ISA, how much would they charge for initial investment and then regular/monthly contributions? Not quite sure on this after reading their charging information.
Thanks.

I spent a while on their website yesterday and couldn't make head nor tail of it.
Their PDF guides were practically illegible - print too small, or if enlarged too fuzzy. However, it appears from lots of squinting at the ISA guide that the minimum deposit within a S&S ISA at a time is £1K, which would put them out of my league.
Did a search for Vanguard Life Strategy and nothing came up, so it wasn't evident that I could buy these funds anyway.
I opened an ISA with them in March. Their minimum is £500, and I put this into the VLS 80% fund. I topped this up with another £500 before the end of the last tax year.
I've emailed them for help and got a response the same day, so they are willing to answer queries.0 -
I have also added £600 to Aberdeen Global Asian Small Companies
That is good to hear you have the Aberdeen Asian Small Companies fund now as well. Mine is at £600 invested so far also at the moment and has been doing well from opening. at present around 7% in a few months, so we will see what it does, be up's and downs I am sure but I think it will be a good holding to haveesmecullen wrote: »Sounds quite interesting, you have quite a good "collection" of funds................a bit too late in the day for me to think about SIPP's but I do like the idea of the small cap funds...........will look into them and decide whether to jump in with one of those, just to pep up my S & S ISA,:)
I am happy with what I have opened for side funds for the added exposure in those areas as it adds a bit of extra spice for the long term outside of the VLS holdings.
Think I am going to open the SIPP with a VLS 80% simple for a while and see at a later stage any other tilts. Still unsure what to do with my Stakeholder pension so will continue to pay the same in and I think I will start simply with a VLS 80%.
I want to increase my pension amounts so this is why I am looking at the SIPP at the moment as I don't feel I want to add more increased monthly amounts into my Halifax Stakeholder.
I could pay into both the Stakeholder and a SIPP or merge it into the SIPP. For the moment I think I will do both while I decide what to do.
Still not opened it in an SIPP yet but really thinking of it0 -
Having looked at all the options for buying this. HL used to be the cheapest option, but I think now Charles Stanley (CS) is now cheaper. They also started offering monthly savings option (£50 minimum).
Based on £1000 invested, the cost for the year is only £2.50. That is much cheaper than the HL £2/month fee (£24/year).
There does not appear to be any penalty for withdrawing funds.
Am I missing something? Looks like CS is now the best option, especially with their new monthly saving option.0 -
Charles Stanley was always the cheapest option up to about £10K IIRC? After that, HL's £24 per annum is cheaper.0

I'm new to this, but want to invest £50pcm in vanguard ls 80:20 or similar product. Would VG be too expensive, and would something else cater for my low, passive investment introduction? Or would I be best lumping £50x12 into VG annually (if that is allowed).
Just want to stick a small sum away and leave it to grow with the indices. ps - feel free to respond in an SS ISA and non ISA scenario (currently have a FA doing my SS ISA at 50pcm as well as a personal pension at a few hundred pcm... given their (FA) fees...wondered if it would be better a) increasing the pcm to £100 with FA isa, b) closing FA ISA and putting £100 into VG/similar DIY in ISA and a small lump sum ~1000 c) continuing FA Isa and my non-isa VG thing?
FYI: the ISA is split: stocks and shares cash, aberdeen multi asset, schroder managed balanced..via novia0
