T-mobile PAC code

Options
Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice.

My 2 year contract with T-mobile was due to end on 18th January 2013 so i called T-mobile on 17th December 2012 to give my 30 days notice and ask for a PAC code.

When i logged into my t-mobile account today i have been charged an extra 26.17 as an "early termination fee". I called T-mobile who have been extremely unhelpful and almost argumentative. They have told me that this is the charge for a PAC code. However I'm not actually sure whether this is a "early termination fee" or a charge for the PAC code or what exactly is going on. I told them that i was not advised of this charge but they insist that i was informed.

After a long discussion with the t-mobile rep i asked to be put through to the supervisor - he initially refused to listen to me, telling me that the supervisor would only tell me what he had told me. It took about 10 attempts before he said the supervisor would call me back!

I'd be grateful for any help re this termination fee. I thought that since i had given them the correct notice to terminate the fixed contract i would not be charged any more.

Thanks,

If you are really sure that it was an extra charge, then the only advice is - stick to your guns and don't let them rob you.
Some people here believe that there is no any extra charge because of some refund, so you are welcome to post as much information as possible:
    billing month,
    payment date,
    monthly charge,
    what the bill actually says.

If that's the case then once you port over your PAC code to your new carrier you should get a recalculated final bill which takes into account your usage up to and your port day.

30 days from 17th December is a day or two before the 18th January so perhaps that's why they are claiming you are ending the contract early.
I have read through other comments previously regarding giving notice and can't see how you can give 30 days notice and request a PAC code as the code needs to be used within 30 days. I got caught out on a previous contract with them. This time I decided the only way I could be sure of avoiding an early termination charge was to give 30 days notice and ask for the contract to be changed to PAYG. I was told I'll be charged £10 on my February bill but this will be credited to my PAYG. I'll ask for a PAC code at a later date when I've found a suitable (cashback) contract.
