Money taken out of bank, not received, can your bank get you it back?

  • To be clear here the bank can do nothing to get your money back. It looks like you have been scammed.

    If I were you I would write a letter to the bank of the recipient stating sort code and account number and name telling them that you suspect you have been defrauded. They might freeze the account - it won't help you get your money back though.
    I suspect though that the money will have been withdrawn a long time ago.

    I would report it to the police. It is fraud / theft, they should investigate it.

    Let's hold fire here, which company was it? It may be that the co is legit (but I'm not holding my breath) but that the transfer was sent to the wrong bank details.

    OP, has your friend checked that the bank details used were correct?
