How much are you willing to spend on a high chair? Because I would strongly recommend Ikea's Antilop, which is only £12 (£4 extra for the tray).

You only need commonsense to check everything is safe & you can get loads secondhand. I honestly think that NCT nearly new sales are the best value (if not the cheapest)
But I really don't recommend a baby walker - they don't help with walking at all , can cause accidents and take up loads of room!

As a granny to 5 I would say the only new things to buy are a cot mattress and car seat. Everything else should be second hand as they grow out of it so quickly. My daughter has found that friends were the best people to get clothes from. Also I run a rhymetime session in the library ( which is free for any age baby) and that is a good and cheap way to meet other mums with hopefully slightly older babies than yours to pass on clothes.

In my experience children don't need new toys and lots of gadgets, the things they remember from their childhood are the days out( including free/cheap ones) and holidays ( even in a tent) when they had our attention. It was great fun for us adults too!
My secret fantasy is having 2 men....
    1 cooking and 1 cleaning.
  • Very helpful tips. Got lots of ideas now. Big thanks! And great weekend too!
