Good morning :D

Thanks for the tips re nasty cat. I thought it was bio washing stuff I needed. We have bio liquid, not powder - is that ok? Do we dilute or use it neat? I don't think we can put the litter tray in the spot as it is right at the bottom of the stairs!! She does use the litter tray, so she knows where it is!! It has been in the same place for years!

I have 2 girlies here, who are being very sweet & silly :) Just what I need this morning :)

DH is clearing the hall, ready to start scrubbing

Hi there, I'm posting a well tried method of removing cat wee smells - but - you say the litter tray has been in one spot for years? This may mean there is something wrong with the cat, maybe a urinary problem, or if she is old, maybe other issues. It may be a visit to the vet is needed.

Good Intentions, it sounds like you are doing all you can for your puss, but, for anyone else with this issue - please remember - The cat isn't doing this on purpose, trying to be 'naughty', there will be a 'cat' reason, if that makes sense. Please stay calm with the cat, again, cats don't equate being told off with what we consider a problem, and it may make things worse if they get nervous of the litter tray. Sometimes having two trays help. Good luck!

METHOD

Step 1. Mop up any wet patches first with kitchen toweks. Next, wet the area with a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Make sure you use enough of the solution to! penetrate the fibres deep down.
After the vinegar treatment dry off the carpet as much as possible. You can assist drying by blotting with paper towels as described above. If you own a wet/dry vacuum extractor use that to remove excess moisture.

Step 2. Apply!a handful of baking soda over the affected!area. Mix a quarter of a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent and drizzle this solution over the baking soda. Alternatively you can use a spray bottle for the hydrogen peroxide solution.
(Do not use caustic detergent that you put in a dishwasher)

Work it well into the carpet with a scrubbing brush, tooth brush or your fingers. Allow to dry.

Once completely dry vacuum up the dried baking soda. Use a hard bristled brush to loosen up the baking soda if necessary. You can assist drying with a heater or a fan.

My DS1 was obsessed by rubbish trucks when he was 2-3. He called them gobble gobble lorries and I had to plan my week around them coming. If we went out and he saw sacks for collection he'd have the biggest tantrum ever. The crew got to know us and let him push the button each week to activate the back. Oh happy days :rotfl:

Such awful news about the crane and the helicopter.

Spare a thought for our feathered friends and put some water out if possible, I did this morning and had a blackbird standing in the dish drinking within minutes.

Morning all
New day new start!!

Been to B@@ts and got some bits, now back home and about to start ironing, I haven't ironed properly since just before Xmas so you can imagine how much there is plus I have a basket of it to do for a neighbour.

DH is on the phone now to his Manager trying to work out if he can return to work tomorrow, his back is a little better but his job involves A LOT of personal care for the residents and thats what is causing the prob so fingers crossed he can go back and not have to do so much of it for a few days. Normally it wouldn't be a prob but as he doesn't get paid then . . . . . . .

Anyhoo, good luck with the hosp tomorrow Skint

• Hi again. Have fed the birds outside and LOADS out today for breakfast, after a quiet day yesterday! We've git blackbirds, hedge sparrows, blue tits and a robin, with two huge magpies hopping up and down the garden waiting their turn. Cats fed, and a new cat food order just delivered, so more if their favourite biscuits for their dins! We've had porridge and the sun is now out, although there is a thick frost everywhere, so going to get next door's dogs out soon. WM load done and is already in the TD.

We aim to sort some cupboards in the kitchen and porch today, before lunch, then just chill later on. We both want to sort out some paperwork but I want a restful day as had a bad head for a few days, and have been extra busy at work (off today!).

Good luck to Mr Macpep and Mr Ionafan - I've interviewed and always chose the person (who seemed suited to the post after any qualifications/experience etc), who appeared the most optimistic, amenable and 'nicest' if that makes sense. I was always put off by those that seemed too rigid, eg, 'I always want 1pm lunch' or those who were just grumpy - yes - it happens at interview. A good firm will have a range of interviewers on the panel, who should be experienced in weeding out the nervous from the not-suitable, so don't worry too much if your OH is nervous at interview.

Narcolepsy and Ionafan, I also used to teach, also my OH, and we took early retirement after getting fed up with all the paperwork and restrictions. We took around six months to go through our finances and lifestyle etc (we knew there were redundancies coming up) and decided we would have a couple of lean years before private pensions etc kicked in, and enjoy more time at home. As it happened I got head-hunted for a part-time post elsewhere in education, that I did for three years but only three days a week, and he started a part-time design business, but we only worked half the hours we used to, and had loads of trips away (lots if which were cheapies!).

He still does his design, from home, and I just do three afternoons now, and we haven't looked back! We are lucky we are in a 'later life' relationship, and still get on well together, and enjoy each other's company. Sometimes we laugh so much I can't breathe!

Well, must go and get those dogs, sorry for a long post! Good vibes to all those who need them and good health wishes too. R x

PS Mumof2 - it isn't you with the slow cooker! I always have to check and I have two!! On mine the controls go from 'high' to 'off' to 'medium', so when you think that (logically) you are moving down the heat a notch, you're not, you go from high to off!!

crappy day at work to face as now been split up from the one person who talks to me (my friend and it now appears the only other adult in the building:( ). I wouldn't mind if we weren't all supposed to be professionals, gets you down though and starting to dread going in, I may even buy a lottery ticket.

I hope things improve for you, it's horrible to dread going to work. Hold your head up high and ignore the silly people, if possible xx
