Disappointed with mobile phone - does not support video on skype

I received a samsung galaxy ace as a gift at Christmas. it's my first smartphone and I've only just discovered that I can't video call on Skype. I just assumed all android phones had a front and rear facing camera. I can't believe they would make an android phone without this feature. If you ask if skype is supported and they say yes is it wrong to assume video calling will work?

Which model? I have a Galaxy Ace 2 and it has front & rear facing camera0

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is now nearly two years old... released in UK in March 2011.
You should not expect the latest features on it.
Yes, you are wrong to assume that just because it is Skype capable, it has a front facing camera.0 -
I don't see why you would automatically assume a phone has a forward facing camera just because it runs Android, my previous one didn't and I'm sure there are plenty out there that don't. The Ace is specifically a budget model so you have to expect some features to be missing.0

you might well be disappointed, but that's all there is here, there's no legal or consumer reason broken.0

Golden rule is don't assume anything with Android capable devices. So many of them, with so many versions, there is nearly always something that doesn't work or isn't compatible as it should on peoples devices.
I'm no Apple fan boy, both my phone and tablet are Android, but from what I've seen compatiblity wise and quality wise Android still has some way to go, when it comes to software and apps. I think largely because of the general uniformity across Apple products software wise.0 -
stand in front of a mirror and use rear camera0

Wrong to assume that. Should have checked the specs out.0 -
It's fair enough they can't see me but if I was on a desktop PC without a webcam I'd be able to view the webcam of the person I was having conversation with but you can't do that either.0

Your phone is Skype enabled
What you whinging about? Do you HAVE to see to be able to speak? Seems we coped all this years with land lines making calls without the need to see who we are talking to0 -
