I remember doing that with my eldest sons stereo when he was about 17. I kept telling him over and over again to turn it down and he did but 5 minutes later he'd turn it up again thinking i'd not notice.
It took many months to get me to that state though. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Seriously, there are some forms of deafness where the things you can hear sort of concentrate themselves into the frequencies you still have, making them louder for you than for other people, in some cases painfully so. And sometimes you become aware of things which other people are completely oblivious to.Funny how they all say I'm deaf and have to keep repeating themselves for me:rotfl::rotfl:
Watch me cover my deaf ear when an emergency vehicles goes past with its siren blaring.
And we have a whistling radiator at work. I seem to be the only person it annoys, and it makes me demented. Fortunately I know how to fix it!
And tell him he'll be sorry when he's deaf like you, which will be in approximately 6 months' time. Won't make any difference, but may make you feel better.
It's very quiet here now DS3 is at Uni ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I have lots of sympathy. Why oh why did we buy DS a surround sound system for his bedroom for Christmas????
Why did someone not tell me that this was a seriously bad idea???
So we get boom boom boom. Then OH shouts at him to turn it down. Then DS says well you bought me it, whats the point of it if I have to have it on really quiet?
I have now discovered that OH is a lot more sensitive to noise than me. I can ignore it but it really winds him up!!!
Ah well, at least we know our darlings are in the house and not out mugging old ladies or something.0 -

You mean yours switch it off when they go out? Where did I go wrong? :rotfl:Oh yes I am so very grateful for that:rotfl::rotfl:
DS3 comes in and switches the TV on. Then he heads into the kitchen and puts a CD on, full volume, while he forages for food. Then he heads upstairs and puts TV on in his bedroom, while playing a computer game (with music) and listening to something different on his i-something. Finally, he comes downstairs (leaving kitchen and bedroom still playing) and starts playing guitar while watching the TV.
And then he complains when I want Radio 4 on for the Archers! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0
