Disable the coupon voucher. As for Java downloads you don't need all those, only the most recent(although they are not doing any harm).0

Well technically they ARE ... just being there potentially leaves a security vulnerability (which is why the updates came about in the first place), so it's a good idea to uninstall all but the latest one.0 -
Thanks for your reply. Please bear with me as I am not that computer literate.
I have gone into tools > add ons > plug ins and it is quite a list eg adobe, microsoft, coupon voucher, etc. Is there anything you think I should be looking for.
As for the toolbar. At the top of my page I have the address bar and alongside of it the search bar with claro search written in it.
Underneath I have shortcuts to my favourites about ten.
Well immediately the two highlighted items strike me as likely culprits, with Claro Search in particular being a concern as it is a Browser Hijacking Object (i.e. a 'virus').0 -
Recently I noticed this issue with certain words underlined on forums etc - traced to products associated with Zoomex installed by my wife in error when looking for toddlers games online. Was a bit of a b**ls ache to remove but finally acheived by running updated Malwarebytes s/ware in Safe mode and a bit of manual housekeeping.0

Thanks to you all for your help. I think I am alright now after following the advice above. I have learnt an awful lot about the internet because of what has happened. Still a long way to go.0
