Hi there, Ill be setting a date at the end of the month, and was thinking of buying my dress online, I live in a small town, so its seems easiest having 4 children and all, Erm a lot of the sites I seem to come across are based in china..and Im not to keen on the idea of getting one from there incase it gets lost or I need to send it back...So I was wondering if anyone knows of any fair priced wedding dress shops online? x
Thank you to all the lovely posters on here!!! xx:heart2:xx

Depends what you want as to where to go.
Do you know what style you want? I ask as most friends of mine had an idea but went for something very different after trying them on. Some due to preference and some be star one style suited them better.
If you have a dress if style in mind, and you are ok with used dresses, there are sites where you can pick up a second hand dress or severely used dress (one called still white I think). You can filter to size and location too.
Or ebay for same.
Failing that, US sites are good but beware import taxes. They tend to shop with UPS or DHL and good for insuring items etc.
I only know one person who bought a dress from Asia and she didn't like it. But that's not to say it is indicative of buying from China etc.
Happy shopping and congrats.0 -
You really need to try a few on to get an idea of the style you want. You can't get this off the Internet
Monsoon, debenhams and I think bhs do some bridal wear0 -
If you look at the weddings board on here I think a few brides bought from the Far East - some happy, some not so.
I got my dress from ebay - shop price £1200, I got it for £90. It hadn't been worn, the bride says she found another dress she liked better. It is an almost perfect fit and the alterations will come to less than £100. I was going to then have it professionally cleaned but after read on another board that it should be okay to wash myself.
The dress is stunning - not sure I'll do justice to it (mature bride, ahem!) but I feel gorgeous in it and there's no way I'd fork out a lot of money for a dress I'll wear once.0 -
The wedding board will probably be a bit more helpful, there is (or used to be, when I was a lurker over there) a big thread about the Chinese dresses.
You could also try preloved.co.uk, there tends to be a lot of wedding stuff on there, I sold my dress on there - bought it for £1100, sold for £400. I know, not mse in the slightest but what can I say - I'm a sucker for a pretty dress and got carried away!Newborn thread member

I got a dress from china and absolutely loved it. Cost me £150. I sent them the picture of the dress I wanted, then told them what I wanted different i.e. I wanted the centre of the corset (at the back) plus part of the train to be burgundy. I got professionally measured (about 15 quid) and sent it all of to them. I was constantly updated with photos, including one of the trial version they make first, and could approve at every stage. It was brilliant. I bought it far enough in advance that I could do a monsoon, Debenhams run if I needed to. Anyway. It was from landybridal. Look for them on ebay or google. Also, you don't have to pick one of the designs they have on their website. Just e-mail them with a design you like and they should be able to do it (might just take a bit longer!)0

I found the dress I loved in a shop for £800, ordered it from an ebay seller in America and it cost £200 delivered.
Unfortunately I lost too much weight and it had so much detailing with beading etc it would've cost too much to ave it altered.
I found my dream dress in a bridal shop that was closing down for £150.
Sold the American one for £50 profit:j0 -
forgot to add. from ordering to arrival took about 7 weeks0

My SD had her prom dress from china (about £35 from memory) and it was brilliant - I tidied up one seam.
I bought my wedding dress this year from ebay - £22 - Monsoon with tags unworn original price £85.-00.
They seem horrendously overpriced to me, OH and I would rather spend the £800 on a honeymoon than a frock.0 -
