Afternoon all , bright and sunny here too and not too cold. Have tidied and DD has done ironing :j and sorted laundry. Roast chicken for dinner later so will start prep on that later. Trying to do some sewing but also have school planning to do. Butterfly brain I loved those videos too thanks for the post, I agree with you Molly you can't be too down with animals around, they always make you laugh. Good luck with your kitchen aid, I'm very jealous as they look fab. Hugs to all in need and hope everyone has a good day:)
Jools that must have been hard but what a nice gesture , hugs for you and good luck tomorrow X

Busy here at chez butterfly today, DH is trying to finish doing bits in DD's pit of doom (room) so that she can get all her stuff out of the bathroom and put away, then I can get to the shower, I have had to put up with strip washes downstairs for the last couple of days and I can't wait to get in the shower and wash my hair.

We had snow flurries this morning, but now it is lovely and bright but cold.

Chicken is in the oven and all the veggies are prepped, so I think I will make a rice pudding with lots of nutmeg for dessert nomnomnom.

Jools It is early days yet, it takes time to adjust (((((Hugs))))) x x x

Glad everyone liked the videos, they made me chuckle too x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Jools well done honey, baby steps, one day at a time dear

Plasterer came yesterday and the bathroom is all plastered and the ceiling skimmed.Tiles gone on tomorrow.Eldest Dd came for coffee this morning bearing cakes 'bought from a shop '!!! she knows my house is covered with dust and not ready for home baking at the moment.First shop bought cakes I have had in ages ,can't say I'm much impressed with them but the thought was there:):)
Shortly will be going to see youngest DD ,she is still awaiting hearing about a jbo she interviewed for last week.Chap has some more folk to see this week but she knows she's on the second interview list at least.
Blooming cold today and it sprinkled with a little snow this morning but I think it may be tomorrow night that the worst of it is due.Hope it doesn't last too long as I hate the stuff.I have enough milk and bread and fresh fruit in store so its not a problem. At least it stops one from shopping aimlessly :):) so it is money saving.
Right I'm off to have a cuppa and a hob nob :);)
Take care all and keep wrapped up warm
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Afternoon all,

Still being affected by jet lag. Slept for two hours yesterday afternoon but still only managed to stay awake until ten. We all went to bed but both dh and DS slept through until seven this morning I was awake at 2.30am and then tossed and turned all night.
Today have managed to stay awake so far and aiming to stay awake right through to bed time. We shall see.
We've had a curry with rice and naans today which was lovely and dd and DGS stayed for lunch. Dh is watching the match and roaring.
Back to earth with a bump this morning. The car won't start and dh who is good with anything practical is struggling to suss it out. Tomorrow he is due back at work and has a full day booked in and since we got rid of the second car earlier last year we are pretty much stuck:mad: he may have to spend the day working on it and postpone his day at work which is a real pain as we desperately need to get some money coming in:(
Went for a long walk this morning and had a big chat about our finances. Think that we have both had our light bulb moment and we are going to tackle our debts once and for all.
I have an interview on Wednesday for some agency work which should help.
The other thing I have done is set up a spreadsheet with our income and outgoings and a separate sheet to tackle the debt repayments. We always find it difficult to tightly budget due to dh being self employed and his income changing from week to week, but we are going to give it a really good try.
Also we will put the house back on the market in the spring and use any profit to make a massive inroad into getting rid of some debt.
So this years resolutions are to
Tackle the debt in a structured and positive way
Get to my goal weight as this really helps me stay positive
Sell the house and move into something more manageable in the area we want
And find a job I like.
Not much then:eek: better get a move on

    Have a good evening all J x

  • Back home from work and just beat the snow. DH is now outside making sure the car is prepared for this weather by topping up the coolant with antifreeze and changing the screenwash to Winter strength.

I was convinced by a butcher yesterday to try a piece of flatiron steak which he told me is a fantastic cut of beef at a bargain price. I have to say it does look lovely and it was cheaper than their braising steak. We will be having it with little roast potatoes and some broccoli.

Have just had to put the last bit of washing in the tumbledrier but I am balancing the cost against the fact it's work clothes and they won't need ironing if I hang them up immediately. Then I must make lunches and get ready to do a bit of ebay listing.

Jools I think you were amazingly brave to go back to the ICU.

Hope everyone isn't suffering from this weather.

Hi everyone,I havent posted for about 10 days as we had massive computer probs and I've missed you:D.DSs Applemac has had to go in for attention and my laptop has had a new hard drive, and a new router with a new address. The techie said he'd never seen anything like it-unsure if it was a virus or we were hacked despite security being up to date etc.It affected everything that was on the wifi  so its cost us,not got the bill for the apple yet. Its been driving DS1 to distraction as he has loads of design software, and jobs pending.Anyway, back online thank goodness :T

I've not been able to read or catch up,but have got lots of housework done :D
Tea is roast with the trimmings, and a trifle. Not done much today but taken a dress back I got for DGD for Xmas, and bought a cossie and buoyancy jacket so she can go swimming soon.Called in at a bargain shop and got stocked up with toothpaste etc.We did a supermarket shop yesterday and were shocked at the total

Julie glad you had a great time-understand where you're coming from re budgeting.DH is self employed and sometimes its weeks before he gets any money in so it is really hard with it being so inconsistent.
Jools, hope your visit to icu helped you a little.
Right, better get on with tea,DS2 and GF have come back from a long walk hungry ,they got snowed on a little bit,but not sticking so far.Take care and enjoy your evening x

  • Jools - very brave and thoughtful going back to the ICU
Julie - glad you had a fab holiday, and hope the jet-lag improves!

Well my house is now almost all sparkly clean! deep cleaned the kitchen - emptied all cupboards, cleaned fridge etc, and the bathroom, cleaned lounge and stairs. Bin day tomorrow so all ready to go out. Bedrooms need finishing off tomorrow, too tired now to do any more, but it's just tidy and put clothes away needed.

I made HM celery soup, stuffed peppers and prepped veg for stirfry for when my friend gets here.

On sofa with cuppa now for half hour.

  • Hi all
    No snow here so far.
Just got back from DD's, I babysat the DGC's whilst SIL drove her to babysitting job as her car had died & SIL has company van, the inlaws will collect her when she's finished.
A while ago when DGD2 saw me she would burst into tears & cling to Mum, now she says 'Hello Nana' & is very happy to see me.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester
