2015 Scotland votes for independence.

2016 Scotland is accepted into the EU.

2017 England/Wales/NI vote to leave the EU.

2018 Several thousand companies, including most of England's biggest employers, move their EU headquarters and manufacturing plants from England to Scotland.

2019 England begs Scotland for a free trade deal and relaxation of immigration quotas to take all the unemployed English people.

2020 Alex Salmond 'smugness quotient' goes off the charts.

A truly dire outcome.... ;)

Isn't the referendum scheduled for 2014 not 2015?

Why keep assuming that EU will rfuse to trade with UK if they left?
Has anyone in power actually said that?

Scottish independence would be excellent for Hamish as the socialist utopian dream of Alex Salmond would result in excessive taxation on both the oil and whiskey industries in order to fund ever higher welfare payments. The disparity between welfare payments in Britain and Scotland would result in a tidal wave of economically inactive immigrants that hamish loves so much flooding over hadrians wall and invading Aberdeen, pushing house prices up even more, to his uncontrolled delight.
  • 2018: England can afford corporation tax of only 15% now no longer subsidising the EU and Scotland. Everyone moves their international HQs to England.

2019: Scotland has unemployment levels to rival Spain, most young generation leaves to find work.

2014 Scotland votes for independence, becomes non-successor state.

Scotland told to reapply for EU membership. Can't be 4rsed. Joins EFTA/EEA instead.

2017 England/Wales/NI wake up, smell coffee vote to leave the UK, become non-successor states.

Told to reapply for EU membership. Can't be 4rsed. Join EFTA/EEA instead.

On last day, all remaining UK debt is flown to Gibraltar and smuggled acrosss the border into Spain at dead of night. Nobody notices.

Gibraltar votes to leave UK, leaving no residual successor state

2015 Salmond lands some lucrative fat-cat sinecure.

The most likely outcome so far:beer::beer::beer:
  • What I cannot understand is that the Scottish referendum is actual a vote on the breakup of the union of the countries of the UK, so why is it only Scottish residents who are getting a vote?

I assume it's Scottish residents and not just Scottish by birth?

In fact just who gets to vote in the referendum is a whole can of worms that nobody seems to have opened yet.
