Want a good deal for second year with Plusnet

I have Plusnet Value Broadband (10gb usage allowance) with inclusive Talk Evenings & Weekends, plus line rental from them - I paid 12 months line rental up front (Line Rental Saver). I had a good deal for the broadband/calls package with the first 3 months at £3.25 then the remaining 9 months at £6.50 (normal price was supposed to be £12.99 per month). I'm on ADSL, we don't have cable where I live, and the package suits my needs.

I've had a reminder that my Line Rental Saver is due to expire early March and so it's nearly time to start looking at packages again as obviously my contract for my broadband/phone package expires then.

I'm happy with Plusnet and happy to stay with them. I've checked out their packages and the equivalent of what I have at the moment is now called Essentials Broadband and Calls and the current offer seems to be half price at £2.99 for 12 months if you take the Talk Evenings and Weekends package, which is a lot cheaper than the "proper" price when I got my half price package last year..

I've not had to haggle for prices before, my late husband used to do all this, so this is the first time for me.

I'm looking for advice/suggestions. Is it too early to speak to them now, bearing in mind I have almost two months left on the contract.

Would it be better to leave them and come back as a new customer if such a good offer is still available nearer the time? If so what would be involved - would I be without service for a while, or any other hassles?

Wait until end of this month, then ring them to see what they offer and bear in mind the haggling techniques shown in the link by the previous reply. Meantime check all other offers, you can use USwitch as well to see what is available. Then when you ring PlusNet you will have all the ammunition you need. But be firm if they don't want to play, give them notice and ask for your MAC number. Doing this won't lose you anything, you can always ring them near the end of your contract and tell them you want to renew.

At the very least if the above does not work, switch from 'Value' ( no longer offered) to 'Essentials' ( the new replacement). Exactly the same (10GB) but £5.99 instead of £6.49.
