I could have so written this post myself! Hubby is an electrician and he likes gadgets and gizmos. The drawer under his side of the bed is full of spare leads and wires. The thing is the drawer is so heavy it drops slightly off his runners and its impossible to close it without taking the stuff out so a few months ago i went through these cables paring stuff off with the gadgets we have. We had 8 spare scart leads for a start so week by week, the excess or the stuff we no longer have the gizmos to go with the leads ive been chucking in the bin.

Christmas i was sure i was going to get rumbled as he had a new laptop and he bought a range extender for the wireless network and i was sure he would go in the drawer for something that was no longer there but he didnt.

However, he has blamed me for chucking a load of software cd's that i really havent touched.

Oh and sheds, hahaha thats another story in itself. He cant take stuff down the sheds (yes we have two) because they are full. Well try chucking the junk out i told him! He's got stuff in those sheds he will never ever use in a million years. Ive told him (and my son) that the house is not an extention of his shed!

Sounds just like my OH. He's a mechanic and wants a shed to store his car parts even though we have a garage which is full of car parts that need to be sold.

He keeps saying he'll put them on ebay but never does it. I offer to do it for him but he never tells me what they are for me to be able to list them.

He has also filled my spare room with Warhammer figures and the loft with 35mm cameras and film.

    Anyone want to swap? :o

    Ha!

I used to keep copies of old computer magazines back in the days when they contained useful articles rather than reviews and adverts.

One day I was trying to do something and I knew I'd read an article on it and that I had the magazine in question.

I went up into the loft to look for it. About 5 minutes later Mrs Toad asked me what I was doing. I told her and she said Oh, OK and wandered off. :A

It was only when it became obvious that I wasn't just going to do what she called 'a boy look' and give up that she fessed up to having chucked them away! :o

Finally i get hubby to agree to part with his dearly beloved ancient laptop. It was broken beyond repair (so he said) when he bought his new one fair enough. However, he decided to reformat the hard drive (something ive been suggesting he did for months) and reload windows and miraculously the old laptop has sprung back into action and the faults it did have, no longer exist.

I was thinking of selling it on eb*y as faulty or for spares and he's begrudgingly agreed but i dont seem to be able to sit him down long enough to let me know the specs. :D

I am trying to persuade him to have some new glasses, maybe if i succeed he'll appreciate the money he'll get back for his old laptop but until then.... it'll remain just an idea.

Hes loud. At 7am its like a foghorn when he starts. If he doesnt after get up im fine leaving him in bed while i organise the kids on a school morning.
He doesnt have a whisper in him im sure.

He's a qualified chef so makes the biggest mess whilst cooking -erm theres no one to clean up after you in our kitchen. And he takes 45 mins to make a 20min tea :D

    He breathes :D

yes, mine too - as well as trashing the entire kitchen (expecting a kitchen helper fairy to clean up behind him) he is incapable of cooking for 3 people, so every meal he makes, at least half, but usually three quarters, is frozen afterwards as leftovers.

Lol, my OH does that.. then goes one step further by looking the actor/actress up online and giving me a complete run down of everything they have ever starred in. :o

Oh gawd I forgot the worst thing - hoarder of the highest order, when he moved in with me recently I was dreading where his `stuff` was going to go, he now has filled every single storage space in my flat, to the point I now have nowhere to store anything new! It's all crap too but still he won't part with it, it might come in useful one day.......oh really, I doubt it.

Same here!! 95% of things in the house are his and take up whole spare room, like he still has boxes for a camera bought maybe 10 years ago despite the camera long since gone, and when I tell him to sort through it occasionally the amount never goes down!

I have a hoarder too...he has shirts that he hasnt worn in years, but wont chuck because its Ted Baker or whoever. Then theres the millions of books, he has read them, but doesnt re read them...so they just sit there gathering dust for someone (me) to dust!

My wife leaves things on the stairs for the stair faries to come and collect. If things need to go upstairs she wont make the journey there and then, she'll put them on the stairs and then when she next goes up she;'ll just walk past them. Out of curiousity i've left the things she's put there to see how long it would take, it was driving me insane 3 weeks later!

Similarly when cleaning the kitchen floor she'll move some of the bigger items outside temporarily. On several occasions she's forgotten about them and they've stayed outside until its rained and whatever items were there have been wrecked! So far its wrecked a pair of shoes, a handbag, 2 mops, a wooden storage box and some kids toys. !!!!!! WOMAN SORT IT OUT!!

    Erm, are you Mr ThreeMuttleys?

Reaching into the side pocket of the car to get a parking permit out, only to find weeks of chocolate bar wrappers cramped down there and then half-assedly hidden with the window cleaning rag.

On the subject of car, he would say I am the worst backseat driver. I am a complete cow when it comes to being in the car!

Yes, here's few from our household...

    - his obsession with the washing machine or should it be 'keeping the laundry basket empty'. Yep, 2-3 bits of whites - into the washing machine they go. And most annoyingly... he's off to the gym... sets on the washing machine with some of his gym clothes...I mean why not wait until he's BACK from the gym and then wash it ALL in one go.
    - his running commentory when I'm watching TV...be it a documentary or whatever... he will have something to say about it!
    - when he's back from work and I'm watching my favourite tv programme, he can not wait to tell me all about his day and if he's not getting enough attention, he WILL get between me & tv
    - 'I've done some washing up - but i'll leave the rest to you' - ok, yes, thanks darling - but why getting your hands wet in the first place????
    - often forgets to switch off the gas when finished cooking
    - when washing up cutlery, leaves it on the rack to dry but will never ever put it away
    - yes, the random items to start collections... half a dozen old cameras (have been in the out building for 10 years +), possibly collectively worth £30. Piles of old magazines (equally, could be worth something one day - I doubt it)
    - goes on about his rare edition Mickey Mouse comic that he claims to have had, which his mother threw away 30 years ago - I can see it still hurts... :rotfl:
    - complains about me 'nagging'. Well, if you did it on the first time I asked, I would not have to.....
    - and don't mention the 'wine'. You will get a lecture/monologue.

I think i've got off relatively lightly..... :D
  • To be fair I think I get off fairly lightly but here goes:

    *Male selective hearing, best is when he will have only listened to part of the sentence so will respond with something with something completely random, ie a conversation today went along the lines of;
Me - I'll have to put the heating on when I get in early today as it won't have kicked in by that time yet.
Him - about quarter to 9...
    Me - eh?!
Him - Oh, did you ask me what time I got into work today?

*hardly ever cuts his toenails so they makes holes in his socks, and scratch my legs in bed!

*his first answer to any question like what he wants for tea is 'dunno', followed later by his actual opinion, think first before answering then!

*buying DVDs that never get watched (or unwrapped from the cellophane in some cases)

*buying or keeping figures/models, I just don't see the point, especially as he says he doesn't like ornaments...

*when going out for the day all set ready to go through the door, he will always realise something needs doing; cleaning his shoes, emptying pockets of rubbish, finding his wallet, putting cups away?

*gets angry and is convinced all technology has a vendetta against him when an item refuses to work, usually because he's pressed the wrong button..

*criticises my parking or muttering about other motorists, he doesn't drive!

*refuses to buy a smoke alarm because he reckons all they do is go off when you're cooking, he won't be happy when the firemen I order turn up to the house to fit free ones ;)
