Hi
I'd be grateful for any help. About a week or so before Christmas something happened to my web connection. The network is connected and the signal strength excellent but when I try to load pages both in firefox and internet explorer I get the error message Server not found problem loading page at ...................... if i continuously refresh it will eventually load, but sometimes not properly and then i refresh again and again. Sometimes it works straight away. I usually use Firefox but I'm having similar problems if I use IE. I'm not very techie minded but would appreciate some help please. It's also causing a problem with connection to Ipod/phone/pad etc.
thanks

Have you tried contacting your internet provider to rule out any problems with equipment, line, etc?0
-
Yes I've done that. No problems with the line or the connection0

How are you connecting to internet? Wireless I assume because you mention signal strength. If you have a wifi router have you tried connecting the laptop directly to it with an ethernet patch cable?604!0

Try using a proxy to get where you want, if you can then the problem is with your ISP server!
It could also just be that the particular page is no longer available?
Try a proxy called "Hidemyass" lol yep i know, but it does and it should find a page OK!Signature removed0 -
I am using a desk top although the laptop still has the same problem. The router is connected with the ethernet cable.0

sorry - but I don't know what you mean by a proxy?0

what security software are you using, post a hijackthis log http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/hijackthis/HijackThis.exe
the desktop is connected to a router with ethernet cable?
which router is it.
what are the proxy settings in internet explorer, tools, internet options, connections, lan settings!!

A proxy is a server that offers a free route to your web page bypassing the ISP's, it will also hide your ISPN if necessary!
Go to http://www.hidemyass.com/ and copy in the address you want to check!
I wudnt do as "closed" says as its a bit technical unless you are a "techie" its a bit complicated and can cause more problems if you make a mistake!Signature removed0 -

Hi - thanks - I've just opened that page (using firefox as the browser) and exactly the same thing happens. I tried M and S and Debenhams and one took ages to load - the 2nd came up with the server not found problem - refreshed lots of times and eventually it loaded! Do you think it's a connection problem then and I should get back on to talk talk?
thanks for your help again0
