Thanks Vauban, hadn't checked Bott & Co's flight checker before. I appreciate you may not know the answer to this, but do you know how Monarch calculate their arrival time i.e. with taxi and doors opening or just runway touch down?

I've no idea - why not ask them? Regardless, the Bott flight checker doesn't lie.

If we had the power to move posts we would, but......

Congrats, and hopefully if there is a next time you'll have the confidence to go DIY.

Received my response in the form of Monarchs defence to court. They are claiming that the engine fault was deemed to be the high pressure compressor blades and as these are not subject to maintenance by monarch and they failed in between the the engine shop visits to the manufacturer that this is a hidden manufacturing defect.

    Anyone have any advice?

Absolute rubbish, I have a report/service bulletin from RR to all airlines if you wish saying the blades are the most suseptable parts of the engine and should be replaced regular intervals. They should subject to rigorus inspection every time the aircraft goes in for maintenance and should be replaced every so many flight cycles.

Just to top this off the AAIB produced an addendum to the report of the TC A330 engine stall at manchester in 2013 in feb slating the condition of blades, due to airborne contaminants.

Tell Monarch to do one on this, if you need the evidence let me know. I am sure RR will not be very happy that Monarch are dissing thier reputation as the best aircraft engine manufacturer in the world!

    Compensation received from Monarch.

    MO4372 - 18/11/2010 - Gatwick to Dabolim, Goa

Plane that was due in to Gatwick to take us to Goa was diverted to the Azores due to a technical problem, causing a 12+ hour delay for departure.
Lots of trying to palm us off with the usual excuses

We originally raised our claim in November 2012 re the above flight and have recently received full compensation along with interest, based on the better exchange rate at the of delay.

This was handled by Lyons Davidson solicitors of Bristol as part of our house insurance for which we pay an added £6.00 per year for legal protection.

Our claim did not make it to court as they settled about 3 weeks before court date.

Thanks to all those here, that have provided advice and help.

Congrats on your success, I've heard of this before using 'legal protection' I assume therefore that you kept 100% of your compensation ?

Yes, Monarch actually paid a total bill to my solicitors which included legal costs and Court fees. The balance paid to me was the full 600 Euro X 2 based on the exchange rate at the time of the delay along with interest.
I received over £1100 but the total paid by Monarch was in the region, north of £1700 I believe.
