  • You're banned. This also happened to me. So I wrote to my MP about their outrageous action. He in turn raised the issue with David Cameron. He was trying to solve the Middle East crisis at the time but he dropped that and immediately dealt with the HPC crisis intead. Anyway, the upshot is I got re-instated. So I suggest you do the same, it worked for me at least.

Well there is no way to contact the mods on there, no email or anything gets to them,

And Cameron has not got back to me yet, so it looks like the next step is the EU court..

I remember the whole shock in HPC when realist bear bought, nobody could believe it, :rotfl:

He did get £500 off the asking price though.

I doubt he is allowed to post anymore to be fair.

This post on there made me laugh.

Who on earth would want to belong to a board where you worry about getting banned just for saying:

I shall be careful how I phrase this as I got banned last time I said something similar......

I can see why people go into BTL rather than other methods of saving.

If I have £50k in savings I can have them in the bank at get 0.5%, risk them in the stock market with the fear that I lose money or buy a BTL.

If you put down £50k on a £150k house and the rent covers the mortgage then in 25 years time you own a £150k house that gives you a nice annual income.

Yes there are significant risks in interest rates/tenant problems/repairs etc but I see it as far less risky than playing the stock market or investing in precious metals.

Note: I do not own any BTL properties

I often read on this forum about how HPC was set up by deranged STRers and how embarrassed they must feel. So I decided to do a bit of Internet sleuthing on the people behind the site.

HPC appears to be a family owned site, owned by 2 guys called Joe and Brendan McLoughlin. You may recognise the name Brendan McLoughlin From PetrolPrices - it's the same guy.

They also run the Web site Ourproperty.co.uk and have posted some very bullish quotes about house prices in the media.

These guys don't have any particular bullish or bearish persuasion with regards to house prices. They're Internet entrepreneurs who are in this to make money regardless of the way house prices go.

HPC is their bearish site. It's in their interest to promote bearish topics to drive traffic to the site and retain their visitors. I have no doubt that "Bruce Banner" is one of the McLoughlin guys or at least employed by them.

    OurProperty is their bullish site.

So before you ridicule the owners of HPC in future, remember that they're the ones making money and they've managed to suck in a handful of silly forum posters.

The bloke who started the HPC website sold out to FUBRA many years ago. I think he got an up front payment of £75k with additional payments on how much increased traffic they'd be in the next following years.

Surely they would have more hits if they didn't keep banning people? I wonder what would happen if you put up a link to OurProperty :)

    75k - I bet he used it for a house deposit ;-)
