Just leave things as they are and see what happens.

Which will be his money gone and no goods.
    That is what happens.

I would close the account if I had to, but they would not get the money.
    Be happy...;)

Think I'd be closing my bank account pretty damn quick!

Some debit cards allow for charge back... visa isn't it? So that might help you if you used that card.

Edit - It's unbelievable how much the administrators charge when a company goes bust. I got to view the bill from one administrator for a small local firm and they were charging well over £1000 an hour, as well as all their 'little' extras!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Jessops interest free credit is provided by a company called V12 Finance, not through Jessops themselves. (ie, V12 pay Jessops the amount your credit is for and then your contract continues with V12) If your camera arrives, your finance will come through V12 so once you have the goods it won't affect you at all. Obviously this doesn't help if the camera doesn't arrive and you should take other people's advice on that as it's not something I really know about, but if they do start shipping orders again then everything else will go through V12.

I ordered a camera from Jessops on 30th December and it arrived on 31st, with first finance payment due to leave my bank a month later on January 30th. Had a call from V12 Finance yesterday checking if the goods have arrived and confirming the start date for the finance. I'm sure this isn't standard practice for a company who aren't in administration - I wouldn't be surprised if they're calling all Jessops customers who have credit due to start to check if they've actually received the goods.
  • Thanks everyone for your replies, my phone won't open the links you guys have kindly put up, so I will have a look at them this evening on the computer,

A little update of my situation today, I phoned jessops and ask what was going on with my order, yet again another rude sales adviser, but he basically said my order was frozen till further notice, I said well I wish to cancel the order as I needed the camera by Saturday which is now not going to happen, he said I could not cancel and phone back Monday, I said well I've been lied to then because on Wednesday they told me my camera had been dispatched and will be delivered Thursday, the jessops advisor got quite angry at my my comment, their customer service is really a absolute disgrace.ed
I then rang my bank which were more helpful, I explained what had happened and she checked my account to see any pending transactions from my debit card from jessops and nothing was showing up, so they haven't even processes my order, so the bank have cancelled my card so no payment can be taken, I really don't want to proceeded with this order at all, as I need to get a camera quick for tomorrow now since they have let me down. Just don't know what route to take.

Be gentle with the jessops staff, it's a very difficult time for them as well.
  • I was nice to them, it was his attitude from the start :-/

Do you expect their staff to be full of the joys of spring? In a matter of weeks they are going to be unemployed!

Cancelling your card will not stop a transaction going through if you have already given your permission for the money to be taken.

Someone more knowledgeable will know more, but I don't see why you are 'not allowed' to cancel.

Why can't the OP just cancel the order under DSRs (assuming it was conducted solely through the website)? With no goods to return (as not yet sent out) and no money taken, wouldn't the whole order process just stop there and they would no longer have authorisation to take any money? (And if Jessops then did try to take money the OP could just start proceedings at their bank to recover the money taken in an unauthorised transaction?)

Ignoring for a moment the problems Jessops and their staff are going through....

What's with the delivery to a different address?

Your card, you want the camera so why couldn't they deliver to to you?
