That's awful Taggiesgirl, no way should a from birth toy come apart. Unfortunately toy's r us do not do "customer service". I have found from bitter experience once you have bought something they do not give a hoot if it's dangerous. (long story). I would contact trading standards as previously advised and maybe the toy maker company if it's not a toys rus brand. None of my friends or family will shop there any more.Booo!!!0

give watchdog a ring,im sure they'll be interested.
what would they do if you wasnt a caring mother and had'nt noticed that suff in her mouth, bet they would'nt like a manslaughter charge on their hands.
i wish you luck.I heart The Capital0 -
You must take this up with Trading Standards asap
They I believe are the only ones that can force a companyto relabel or remove stock from shelves - which needs to happen quickly I thinkI THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
trading standard etc etc etc. obvious breach of all H&S and trading rules0

Toys R Us have been dreadful for customer services in my local branch. I started frequenting it regularly when my son was born three years ago, but after so much inflexibility in many aspects (especially returns) I have given up on going there. Out of principle I refuse to set foot even if it is the only place to get things.
I think it must be company policy to be as difficult as possible in customer services there0 -
Trading standards (as everyone has said) would be very interested. Agree with the post above, I've witnessed for myself Toys R Us and their (lack of) customer services and made a promise to myself never to give them a penny more of my business.0

At the risk of repeating what others have said….
TRADING STANDARDS, with a copy to TRU headquarters
These toys should be taken off the shelves immediately0 -
You could enclose a copy of your daughter's explanation as to why she chose to put the toy in her mouth lol!!!! as of course she should have known not to do this. You could try and explain that you told her when you gave it to her not to do this, so presumably it must be her fault that it got wet?????
Being sarky of course!!!0 -
I agree! Trading standards all the way!
Many years ago when DD was about 8 months old she was rushed into hospital, where she had to stay for a few days. DS purchased a cuddly dog from Tesco as a present for her, it was the type that squeaked and had crinkley ears etc. The labels said suitable from 6 months.
She sat in the hospital cot playing with the toy as I spoke to DH and DS. When I turned around her face, bed and clothes were bright blue. The crinkle part of the toys ear was leaking dye at an alarming rate and the crinkle material had all frayed off. I was horrified. The nurses checked her over as she had swallowed the dye but she was ok. All her clothes were ruined.
DH took the toy and DD's clothes to Tesco's and really did have a moan. DS was heartbroken because it was a toy he had bought his sister and it was a difficult enough time for him with her being in hospital , he thought he had made her worse with his gift bless him. Tesco were wonderful. It was all passed to head office and the manager instantly removed all the remaining dogs from the shelf before even consulting HO.
A few days later we had a cheque for £75 as well as a few baby toys for DD and a little something for DS. There was a manufacturing fault with the toy and as far as I know all were recalled. Tesco couldnt have acted any quicker.
Toys r Us seem to have a reputation for not caring. As a headsup for other mums here it may be wise to name the toy though
Good luck
Jane

Hi
I agree with all the other posters and say you must contact Trading Standards (should be in the phone book under your local council).
7 years ago, MiL bought DD1 a Tinky Winky which talked - it was hideous! However DD adored it. One day she dropped it out of her highchair and she must have loosened the base. I didn't notice and gave it her to play with whilst I fetched her meal. The next thing I knew, she was trying to put the battery & electronics in her mouth as they had come loose  The Trading Standards person was excellent and showed me the cylinder they use to check for choking hazards which is the same size as a baby's windpipe. Ultimately, as this was too big to be a choking hazard and neither MiL nor I had either the receipt or packaging, there wasn't a lot he could do, but I was relieved that he took my complaint seriously, and have always kept receipts and packaging since then.
If only it had stopped MiL from buying plastic tat made in China [sigh...]0
