Any advice for an automatic?
I know to drive in L (low gears) on snow and ECO mode (Shrugs) and to turn traction off if the wheels start spinning. Don't know anything about how to park it.
Silvercar, the traction control is to stop the wheels from spinning, you should not switch it off !
When one wheel starts to spin, the TC kicks in, takes the power from the wheel that's spinning and transfers it to the other wheels that are not spinning hence correcting loss of traction.couponqueen123 wrote: »i asked my dad as i dnt know and he says
If your car has automatic transmission, you simply have to put it in park. When you put your car in park, the forward and backward movement of the wheel is restricted.
then apply handbreak, turn car off and all shuld be ok but i recomend you double check this plz -- this is not advice just what my dad knows use this to check agains some-one eles ok
CQ, your supposed to keep your foot on the brake, when stopped, then apply hand brake, remove foot from brake, wait for the car to rock back or forward a little, then put in P.
Putting into park before the handbrake is applied fully can lead to costly repairs in the gear box.Apparently if your wheels start spinning it means the car is trying to hard to grip and turning the traction off gives more chance that the car will move on. :shrugs: I'm female, what do I know other than it works.
Who taught you this ?
Wonders if this action would work against you in an insurance claim ?Back to square one, no apg, no comment.0 -
Thanks guys,
It does feel like everything that can go wrong does go wrong at the moment. It's been one drama after another for months
Last night DS1 woke us up crying. When I went into him he'd had a massive nosebleed and him and bedding were completely covered in blood. It's happening about once a weekkHe totally freaked out when the light was switched on bless him. Must be bothering him as he's had a few 'accidents' today. My washing machine is on overdrive
I used to have lots of nosebleeds as a child and had my nose cauterised 4 times in total. Maybe I have some freaky nose that he's inherited :rotfl: Anyway, I have an appt for him at Drs Wednesday too.
Fingers crossed we're due some good luck soon.♥ Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles.... it empties today of it's strength ♥0 -
Hugs are being sent to LOGIE. Hope things get better and soon x x x0

Afternoon all
Have had to borrow the skipping rope as RL got in the way.
Hope you are all keeping safe and warm.
Have spent all morning baking bread rolls, focaccia and cupcakes with DS1. House smells yummy. Now just have to stop them all disappearing within a day
Bit of stressful news this afternoon. DH has a lump on his arm that has been there for a few years and has gradually grown. He saw consultant a couple of weeks ago and they did bloods/xray etc. This morning he had a phonecall to say they want him to go in for a biopsy on Wednesday so they can check if it is anything sinister. Sure it'll all be ok but then I wasn't worried about me.... He's even younger than I am (he's 28) so chances of something nasty should be low. At least we will find out soon.
Hope everything goes OK on Wednesday for DH. Try to stay positive, it could be just a cyst. Bigs hugs to both of you Caz x
Big hugs to DS too hope you get it sorted out soon.
You certainly are well overdue some good luck0 -

My son 14 now used to get them all the time when he was little, from about 3 years old. Most of the time it was during the night & a few times at school but mainly if he would have a little bump he would most definitely have a nose bleed. Doc said nothing wrong & would grow out of it. He still get them if he has a bump to the nose or been picking it too much :rotfl: . I remember getting them when I was little too.0 -
Hi, I have a question for anyone that has used redspottedhanky. I have one of those voucher codes for £10 off that expires 31st March. I tried putting in the code and I ticked the box but it didn't show the discount. It shows how much the voucher is worth. I didn't go as far as putting in the card details as I wasn't sure it would come off.
Also as the expiry date of the voucher is 31st March does my journey have to be before then? or is that just the voucher expiry date? As I need to travel in April (easter hols)
Thank you in advance for your help.0 -

hi I have used them several times and when I get to the payment they have the vouchers I have stored on my account listed and they are used automatically I think if you book before the expire date you can use them as I had some that expired in December so book before they expired for jan trip and it worked fine,,0 -

Thanks very much. Just to be a pain, is it possible to use more than one code? as I got a couple to different email addresses. I was just going to book there and back seperately, but it could cover the whole journey if I can use more than one voucher?0 -
If anyone has any HMV gift cards use them asap as from tomorrow HMV will, at least for a while, still accept them.
